How do I remove console?

Postby Digital » Sun Sep 07, 2008 2:02 pm

Hey guys,

I am planning on installing an aftermarket reversing camera cos i thought what the heck since i got the sat nav in there, does anyone have any experience in removing the centre console to get to the back of the head unit/dvd screen?

Once I remove the console, it should be pretty simple, just running the power wire to connect to the reverse light cable and then trying to figure how to trigger my AUX on the dvd screen automatically.

If anyone has done this sort of thing before please lemme know, my search has come up empty

where did you mount your reversing camera?

is it obvious when u look at the car from the rear?

and do you have to drill into any metal?

I also wanna know how to remove the center console to reach the back of the HU. I've been meaning to get an ipod cable from ebay for my Alpine unit but have been putting it off.

i haven't actually done it yet, i did a initial test today with a cheapo camera i got from work, but i realised the camera does not have a wide viewing angle.... so i figured if im gonna do it i might as well get a proper wide angle camera, any suggestions?

i was planning to mount it above the license plate (in the middle of the number plate light section) so yes it will require some drilling into the plastic. the camera was quite big, about 2.8cm in width so im hoping its not too noticeable....

i couldnt think of any other mounting options without it being too obvious plus i want to angle the camera so i can see a part of my back bumper so i can use it as a parking aid.... (most things i have read about reversing cameras only really tell you about how to install as a safety thing, so you can see kids and stuff behind you)
