No good on the custom Y cable. They'd want a minimum of 5000 made. Nooooooope.

Can anyone shed any more light on this charging issue? I've resorted to not even using the tablet at the moment cause I keep on having to remove it to charge it up. Lasts a few days. It's quite frustrating.

Bit off topic, but the Nexus 7 2013 has been upgraded to Android 5 via OTA and now supports native USB audio out...wooot! Haven't yet tested charging rates, TBA in a future post

Hey people, been running Timurs ROM sucessfully for a year or so now but its been ages since I've updated. While im doing the usual application updates and adding a few new UCCW icons, are there any new ROMS worth changing over to? Ive noticed TIMURS hasnt been updated since 2013.

I looked into this benny but couldn't source the right plugs? The microUSB in particular. Any hot tips.

I don't mind making a couple, no problem, if I can find the right gear haha

gradg: to get my micro-usb connectors i just buy cheap USB cables and pull them apart/de-solder. you can then use layers of heat shrink to hold the moulded plastic over the connector again when you have made your cable.

Alright, I've found them after a bit more searching.

I'll try my hand at making one, the pieces are from china and come in 10 packs, so making another one won't be a problem.

usb otg Y cable diy :P

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthr ... 653&page=3

This seems to be a valid approach:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpos ... stcount=21

Quote:
To make complated USB OTG CABLE WITH CHARGING You will need :

- Male MicroUSB or MiniUSB to regular male USB data cable ( SAMSUNG DATA CABLE RECOMMENDED)
- Non Powered HUB or Powered HUB or regular FEMALE USB CONNECTOR ( for mouse keyboard gamepads etc )
- 100k ohm resistor for enable OTG MODE AND CGARGING ( tested on SONY XPERIA S - working fine, on other devicecs you may need to use other resistor with different value)

Research resistor mod for Nexus 7:
https://www.google.com.au/?gws_rd=ssl#q ... nexus+7%22

Quote: "Y-OTG works only with Timur's kernel (USB ROM)? but in that way you dont need any resistor."

But here it is used successfully: http://2dindroid.wordpress.com/2013/08/ ... g-nexus-7/

Bah! More research lol: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthr ... ?t=2103183

And with 100k resistor with on/off option FTW: https://sites.google.com/site/sonicboom ... g-diagrams

Some good info there, perfect, thanks Benny!

I'm curious though, if USB audio is to be utilised, how is the signal being sent via the Y cable if the data lines are not connected?

As far as the cables go, i'll be using small building wire to make it from scratch and testing before I build a second. If it works - brilliant.

I'm curious about this resistor business.

Wow, haven't checked in on my own thread for ages now. Great to see so many people running Nexus 7's in their cars!

Just saw the post re Autodroid. Am quite interested in giving it a go. Everyone running it had good results?

i tried it (and a vanilla lollipop install since it has usb audio support) but didn't have any luck getting the behringer ufo202 working, went back to timurs + CM and everything works like a charm.

Interesting. I'm using the UCA202 which is reported to work fine.
