MY04 gt Airbag light staying on?

just started happenning tonight, anyone else had this issue or know what it may be?

^ yes but only for a brief moment, it was due to dust being on the AFM (the air sensor). Well after a clean the light was gone so that could be it.

To make the AIRBAG light come on? :shock:

I can see that lighting the "Check Engine" light, but not the airbag one.
That sounds more like a blown fuse or damaged control box in the airbag circuit. Time to visit a dealer!

well this morning it wasnt on until the car warmed up a little i think, then came on and stayed the hole trip into work,

i really dont want to have to visit a dealer- where is this AFM so i can clean it- is it just in the intake pipe?

i think you have to visit a dealer.. could be faulty.. u dont want it going off during transit lol :shock:

I agree with Rick, I'd probably visit a dealer or an auto electrician it your out of warranty.

Haven't had the problem myself, but it could just be a loose connection to one of the airbag sensors. Would explain why it’s not on when the car is first started up etc.

this is one of the many issues i had with my car..

check all your connections, and ensure that there is nothing under your seats. especially the passenger side.. the drivers side is much easier to remove and play around with, but the passenger one can be rather fiddly..

something may have slid under your seat and knocked it.. no point getting a dealership to charge you a stupid amount of money if its not needed..

Do you warm up the car before you drive it? :shok:

Nowadays you don't have to and it may damage the car, seriously.

I once did that then, the engine and cruise ctrl lights came on. It was on a sunday and I had to travel 400 km that night. I switched off the engine, checked all fuses, they were all ok. I waited and later the lights went off, never to come back on again.

Forget the AFM thing, if you don't know it, you probably shouldnt even touch it. Take the car to the dealer or consult your car manual.

lol im only21, i dont think i have ever had a car i have needed to warm up in the morning, i just meant when i first start the car the lights off..

so anyway last night i drove home from work, then to my gfs place and no light at all, drove around abit actually, then this morning bam back on again, i checked under my seats and while there was a refidex under the passenger its out now, i tried jiggling some stuff under there but it seems to make no difference.

looks like il just have to go to an auto elec

not to a auto elect.. go see a dealer.. they plug into your ECU and can see where the errors are at.. that way no guessing involved..

see if they tell u the problem.. then go to a auto elect to perform the work.. might save you some $$$.. but u should go to a dealer for the initial diag

The airbag warning light thing happened to me a while ago, I worked it out to the drivers side seatbelt pre-tensionner. Could be the same thing that is happening to you, next time you turn the car on just stick your hand in to do it, after the car is started move the seatbelts around and see if the light comes on (hope it is something easier as the seatbelt pre-tensionner may set you back around $900 to be replaced)
