Problem: the nut behind the wheel is too old.

Solution: apply lubricant until you no longer care.

Does FM still work? There is only one aerial in the car and it uses the same for both.

Just checking but you did search for channels? As they more than likely reset the ECU possibly clearing all preset stations? Also the aerial connection on the back windscreen is still connected properly? And your checking this in an open area, not I side the garage etc?
Just checking the more obvious areas first

I've had the same problem since I got the car just over a year ago.

FM works. AM is so distorted and patchy, its intolerable.

Not sure what the problem is. Would be keen to fix...

Update, went to Subaru , checked all the antenna wires , all ok
So the problem is in the HU ,
Quoted $560 to replace the HU
Guess it's FM from now on

If it has dual climate and yours only has single climate it will still work. The passenger site temp knob will display a temp on the screen but will do nothing to the temp on that side of the car. Only the drivers side temp control will change the temperature within the car.
