Lost my License :(

Nearly everything is in here to start with.

I am not overly proud of it but I lost my P’s three times and went to court every time and got my license back.. I was living in the hinterland with no access to public transport at the time thou.. Unless you are a serious offender and stuff up pretty bad, they are more interested in you paying the fine not taking away your license.. Don’t dispute the fine just the loss points.. They can even reduce the loss of points to one or two, at least then you get to keep your license.. Just go to court and plead your case, as SkoobyGT said, you have got nothing to lose..

Bad luck adam. something to learn from I guess.

So you get you license back in 3 months then? do you get the full set of points?

btw, when you lose points, how fast does it accrue again? 3/year?

3 years I'm pretty sure is correct.

Lost a few points for speeding & it took 3 years for me to get them back.

Unsure if the time period differs depending on the offence...

Having 4 suspensions under my belt I can advise the following alternatives:

1) Write letter after letter, drag it out, until December when you get 3 points back. Quite easily done given the slow process.
2) Go on the probationary system.. from RTA website:

Good behaviour period
Unrestricted licence holders who receive a Notice of Suspension due to the accumulation of demerit points can apply for a 12 month good behaviour period instead of serving the suspension. This option is not available to provisional licence holders or those already serving a good behaviour period.

Licence holders who accumulate 2 or more demerit points while serving a good behaviour period will be suspended for double the original suspension time

Make sure you dont stuff up again.

P.S. I hate (most) cops I've met.. haha

I don't like giving out tickets.

I do real work.

However Mano, I will make an exception for you. Pout and put on a cry?? haha

I know about legislation, so i know what the holes / defences are.

But thats what gives us one up on members of the public.

I agree that is a crappy ruling you got done for, cause it seams that when ever I travel through Sydney, that at just about every set of lights you still have people running the RED even after the other lights have turned GREEN, now that is just wrong

The cops on the Gold Coast aren’t too bad. I have been let off quite a bit and they have even reduced the speed or points lost on the spot so that I could keep my license.. As long as your not a smart ar#e and show them some respect they are usually pretty reasonable.. But like everything in life thou, there are still a few arrogant cops out there.. Same as judges at court, as long as your not a tool, they are not out to ruin your life.. I think I know why some cops are angry thou, saw something on 60 minuets about these idiots street racing.. Not that I have never sped before but its more so their attitude that annoyed the hell out of me.. Collectively they might have the IQ of a peanut.. Probably never paid taxes in there lives and they think its their god given right to take over the roads.. I am watching thinking why cant the cops take these douche bags around the back and knock some sense into them.. Cops have to put up with dip sh#ts like this every day.. It would drive me insane…
