Rear Diff Oil 3.0RB

Postby Blake8828 » Mon Sep 22, 2014 7:09 pm

Sorry if this has been asked before, I've been searching for ages to no avail.

Just wondering if I can use the same oil as my transmission (I use Subaru Extra-S) in the rear diff?

Car is a 6 speed Manual 3.0RB, rear diff appears to be an LSD since both wheels spin in the same direction when I spin one side by hand while raised.

I imagine if it's a viscous style LSD it would use the same oil as the transmission since the center diff is a viscous unit and it shares the transmission oil...

If it is a clutch style LSD it would require specialized LSD oil, right?

Any help would be much appreciated, Thanks! :D

Both rear and centre LSD's are of the viscous type so you can use any gear oil in both.
