Post/pre facelift

Postby Kevaclone » Wed Sep 10, 2014 11:48 pm

What year did this happen?

late 03 Liberty GT with single climate control
is the HU separate from the A/C or integrated?
do I have to buy the full replacement fascia with the A/C controls?
or can I just use the Fascia alone on this vehicle?

If integrated has anyone got a work around for this?

if its not macintosh, you cant do much from what i could find.

It is possible to use the stock head unit and rewire the speaker cables to a speaker level input of a multi channel amp.

MY04-06 = preface
MY07-09 = PostFace
Normally Subaru release the next years model in September of the previous year, so yours would be 2003 MY04

Is it McIntosh? Post up a photo perhaps

yes it's McIntosh. In dash 6 CD. fitted above the single zone climate control

So it's Pre Facelift, then I can remove that stereo and fit an aftremarket double DIN head unit using a replacement aftermarket fascia kit that does NOT need the replacement climate control unit?

I will be replacing the entire system, head, amp and wiring and more than likely the speakers
It's supposed to be 11 speaker system. so where is the sub normally located?

That's correct. All you need is a replacement fascia, your climate control can stay.

It's actually 13 speakers, 4 in each front door, 2 in each rear door (they are actually coaxials but Subaru obviously thought 13 sounded better than 11) and the sub.

Sub is on the parcel shelf for sedan or on one side in the boot for wagon
