Sometimes tired batteries on boxer engines require a couple extra turns of the engine until they want to fire up.

I recently changed my tired battery and it went from 6 revolutions to 3 on cold start up.

If you've still got the factory panasonic battery in there then its probably time to replace.

As above :) Winter makes it especialy hard as the battery does not like being cold

Would my shit AFR sensor contribute to bad cold starts? Since i’ve replaced it, its been turning over a lot easier. Could be in my head. who knows.

So, I took my car in to get the DW65c pump install checked after suffering a lack of fuel pressure at turnover...

Verdict: they had not installed the TWO o-rings as I had specifically requested them to do the first time... the sons of whores !!! Un-friggin-believable. So now that the TWO o-rings are in, it works fine. Plenty of pressure at start up... cold E85 is another story, but at least I don't have to prime the fuel line any more. Thanks to all for helping crack this nut - much appreciated. :good:

You're lucky you caught this quickly. I suffered an internal leak last night and killed the engine today.

Matt, lovin the E85 at the mo, but suffering from a lack of petrol stations with the good juice. Just wondering, is there a way to have flex-fuel programmed for i-mode and "E85-only" for S and S#?
I want to run E85 all the time, except there are absolutely zero E85 stations in the southwest of WA where I visit occasionally. So having i-mode as a back up to use 98 would be handy...

SI Drive only affects the throttle response.

We can do the flex fuel tune in person on next trip with a little bit of sacrifice as we discussed :)

Yes, I recall the 15% sacrifice in power with flex-fuel. In retrospect, it's a cheap power price to pay to be able to do country trips again. Just remind me though - with a E85 tune, you can mix up to 50% with 98 and it's ok?...and would it be worth adding an octane booster to help the engine cope with the 50/50 mix?...

Any rough estimate on your next trip to Perth?... I'll organise my next exhaust upgrade for when you're here.

Hey Moeeyy,

Not too sure how much research and mods you have done so far, but you have found the right thread. Have a good read through this and other threads to get a feel for the pros and cons. In a nut shell, the starting point is to get your car tuned... Do a little bit of research, but hopefully it leads you to Kiddo and he will work some magic on your H6. Even if you don't end up with E85, you should def think about a tune. You will need to upgrade your fuel pump in addition to a new tune.

I've had my SpecB H6 running on e85 tuned by kiddo now for 2 weeks and its worth the time and effort! (Thanks kiddo/matt!)

Cheers,pix.

I've already had a tune mate, wanted the actual specifics as in (from what I can gather from a short read)
1. Meet Matt for the E85 tune
2. Run 3 full tanks of e85 on stock pump and filter
3. Upgrade fuel pump and filter and sock and whatever else

Wondering if you could also run e-flex from caltex as well as the united e85 on the same tune or if they require different tunes

I don't know if it's the same for the H6, but I do that with my 2.5i.
I usually use caltex due to it's proximity to my home. But whenever I'm on the other side of town or going for a long drive (like to Canberra-Sydney), I fill up at United with E85.

Matts Flex Fuel tune takes care of the rest.

Personally I was running P100 before my E85 tune with Matt. I upgraded my fuel pump first (didn't change the filter at that stage). Then Matt tuned the car on E85. I actually ran on E85 for a couple of months and then flashed back to a BP98 tune for a while. Then recently got a retune with Matt on his flex fuel tune again and this time I changed the in tank filter. Cut it open, it was black.
