No e85 till 3582 is on and it has a clutch....so a while :-)

No good tuners I trust in WA, if I break another auto I'll go manual on the next weekend!!
I'm all ready to do it.

Matt did me a tune that stayed 1.0 IAM after hard, hard treatment with more power and feels more responsive.
Now we know the limit of the stock intermediate shaft cogs if you run 235 sticky tyres.......we can address it.

Keen to see some vids once you are happy with yours?? Sounds good!

You're going to go 3582 and E85 at the same time...talk about an Xmas present! My engine builder has a rex he just built with that setup - made an easy 300 atw on one of the toughest dynos here, before maxxing the ID1000s....a sign of good things to come for you

Will take it easy for a while while a new rom is cranked up by Matt.
He should be able to improve those peak torque violent changes.
Will install the trans cooler thermostat straight away too.

J, glad it's coming together.

Are the clutch plates you've mentioned the ones inside the 'box itself, or the ones in the transfer case/centre diff?

But isn't Mick running a shit load more power than you and I without having broken the sun/planteries (for a while at least)?
Can I ask how you're addressing it?
Me personally; I'm going back to regular fuel I think... I know it's the wise choice given I can't afford yet another busted centre diff just now, but even when I'm not beating on it, the low-end torque/smoothness of E85 is just so intoxicating.

As for long term... I'm likely to stick with the auto (old injuries and rooted knees make owning a daily manual a living hell more often than not), but I'm going to work out some way of making those damn cogs tougher.

Issue is Mick has peak torque at higher rpm(5500rpm) due to not coming on boost til 4000+rpm while this setup has full boost at 2400rpm. No viable way of getting less crankshaft torque(over 900Nm@2400rpm at the crank, which is 1300+Nm@wheels on a Mainline dyno lol) so although Alexei points out that I have tuned a LOT of auto cars making more peak power... it is the torque and the throttle response on this that causes issues.

Heheh yep

and every WOT gear change it lands on or close to peak torque.

Bad news for cogs....

we will work it out, perhaps clip the boost to 18psi while I line up all the parts/services for the manual & 3582 change hmmm?

Makes sense.

Mine, I'm guessing, hits peak torque somewhere around the 3700-4400rpm area given peak boost hits at 4000rpm. This is, I suspect, why all those 3500-4000rpm launches for 1/4 miles and also, well, fun, didn't help my first diff...
The fact that I can't hold a stall-up/brake boost properly and it just keeps climbing (I have actually seen 4,500rpm and more than 1.0bar, but I lifted off the gas) doesn't help either. I'm guessing this is tune related and something I need to talk to Eric about :|

Picked up my lib today.
MMMMM missed it.

The handling, oh how I have missed you!

Big thanks to Bezza for the ROM flashing!
Success.

Funny, the car goes better of the line than I recall....

Straight after a flash it is always very fun to drive and spools better than after a week???

Always a pleasure J :good:
My bum was tightly clenched when punching it a couple of times I'll admit haha!

From our short drive, you can really appreciate how the car is easily driveable, but stomp on the fast pedal and hold on :assassin: !!!
Can't wait for a "proper" spin some time.
mod -> tune -> drive -> get bored -> repeat...

Was taking it easy..... bit of pedal here n there but no FF winching out of gears.

We will go for a real spin soon with less traffic

It changes smoother now....if it wasnt Matts new ROM it was the Auto chaps fiddling....hmmmm its definitely better though.

I wonder if Matt can stop it learning and changing the way it spools and shifts.....????

It's great after a reset and then learns bad habits over the next few days.....which sux....

Went for the cruise tonight, all good.
Had Bezza along navigating.

Glad it held together n I got to have some fun.

Saw Scary's manual with same turbo as mine, so much instant go!
Very nice.

Looking forward to next year when the manual goes in.

Did a ghetto aero mod today and now my front heat exchanger has full airflow.
Noticeable improvement in spool and on repeated pulls through 2nd and half of third.

4 Bar map here we go :D

One thing that is strange is that the water wetting additive in the WTA seems to be eating the teflon tape ......

Bugger!

Now the air is cooler all the time due to the WTA i have a new thing, a slight surging at cruise.

Could be compressor surge as the AFR and vacuum are oscillating slightly at this time.

Or cam timing causing slight reversion at cruise over 70km/h but this is the second potential on the list to investigate.

FFS!! (not the flat foot shifting abbreviation either!!!)

Anyone overcome this already?

Shall I put some stock quads on to the provide some backpressure and move spool up the rpm at the expense of top end....?
This is my current thinking anyway.
