I had to change the whole unit when mine failed... :(

Managed to pick up a brand new compresor for £160 though - so it wasn't too bad

So it isn't possible to just replace the bearing itself??

Have you got an Ingrams Ashdown near you?
Try them, them list alot of electrical crap and if they don't list it they can send it up to somewhere in QLD to re-build them.

Hi, if its just the bearing on the pulley then it is really easy to replace yourself. I had to do this a few months back.

1.Take the pulley off the compressor (If you need more help on how to do this just ask).
2. Measure the dimensions of the bearing: Width/Outer diameter/Inner diameter.
3. Give the dimensions to a local bearing supplier, they will probably have to order it as it is an uncommon size.
4. Hard part is getting the bearing out of the pulley, if you don't have a press its probably best to get the bearing supply place to do this for you, only takes a second ;).

All up it should only cost about $35, I'm sorry I no longer have the dimensions for the bearing but it's easy enough to remove the pulley :).

Excellent, thanks Blake.
Yeah I presumed the bearing could be changed separately.
I actually had the clutch section off it today to check if I could get my regular circlip pliers in there but no luck -I'm gonna have to buy some right angle pliers to get the circlip off. I gave it a squirt of WD40 while I was there and that shut it up for a while at least.
I was actually hoping to do the job in the carpark of the bearing shop so that I wasn't without my car :P -that's if I could confirm the correct bearing# and ensure they had one in stock first.. Guess i'll have to borrow the missus car for a cupla days while the bearing is measured & ordered. She hasn't got those girlie number plates fitted ...Yet
