Help with Audio options......

Postby THERB3 » Fri Aug 01, 2014 8:14 pm

Hi guys,

Can anyone steer me in the right direction with this upgrade.
As I am waiting for my fascia to arrive, my plans is to obtain a double din unit with GPS function attached.
Can someone suggest a decent unit.
Also I know the amp needs to be replace as an easier option, what are my options to put a replacement amp under the passenger seat again.

Cheers.

Does anyone know a good car audio shop around town. I live in Essendon so preferably on this side of town.
Thanks

Hey Hazza
I know its on the other side of town but FHRX (Sydney) recommended http://www.phattaudio.com.au/ down in Braeside.
I've been there once to get my steering wheel audio controls installed by them and a few other little things, happy with their work - ask for Brett.

Replacement amp for the 5 channel are:

Alpine PDX-5 (older model)
Alpine PDX-V9
Alpine MRX-V70
JL Audio HD900/5

They are all small footprint and will provide the power required to drive the factory speakers. If you are planning on running speakers rated at more than 60W or a sub rated at more than 250W RMS, then forget the V70. The rest will be able to provide ample power.

In regards to headunit, there are many options available. Best bet would be a decent Pioneer unit. The Alpine double dins are quite expensive, and most of them require the nav module which isnt cheap.

Definately give the boys at Phatt Audio Concepts in Braeside a call, otherwise DC Garage in Thomastown.
