H6 Servicing tips

Hey guys, looking at servicing my 3.0 this weekend and was wondering what exactly I should service (Im thinking everything since I am unsure of previous service history)

So I know the basics
Oil Filter
Oil Change
Spark Plugs
Serpentine Belt
Coolant Flush
Air Filter
Brake Fluid
Power steering fluid

Just wondering what else I can service as the car is at 190k and if there is any specific brands or fluids I should be using

Find out when the plugs were changed last they might be ok ,bit of a task to change over aswell.
A can of subaru upper eng cleaner I would recommend


I use semi syn cast roll seems ok so far
Penrite is also good .

Transmission power flush if auto -or at least an oil change.
Transmission oil filter in the front inner guard, next to your car's battery. (Do all autos have these or just tow packs like mine?)
Diff oils too.
Cabin filter! You'll be glad you did..
Check your front lower control arm bushes.
Check your front driveshaft boots. They are very close to the exhaust in places and can literally melt through.
Check your spare tyre has correct pressure.
Check for a hairline crack on the top of your plenum running front-back just behind the throttle body.
Check under bonnet to make sure the supercharger hasn't been stolen. If it has, replace immediately under insurance

Cheers guys, running manual so not sure if transmission oils really count for me but I might look into the gearbox oil lol. Definately need to look into the supercharger though, my boost gauge just shows vacuum

What exactly does the cabin filter do? Diff oils and upper engine cleaner are noted and on the shopping list

Unsure of any past service history as its a recent purchase and only service history I got was a warranty log saying services were done but not what was serviced so Im pretty much looking at servicing everything I can and then having everything else done by a mechanic.

There's a thread in the walk-through section for the cabin filter. Very easy job -no tools required.

Your front diff and gearbox are running the same oil as in they're connected as far as I remember. Remove your intake resonator will get rid of some of the mechanical metallic induction sound I used to hate it. Im a Penrite man so its the only oil I use. A power steering flush I would recommend using atf dex 3. Cabin filter will clean up your air con some have been disturbing. Brake and clutch fluid same thing I havent done these myself as im not that mechanically minded but had them done at 100k service. Change your idler bearings and serp belt some frustrating stories from the bearings as of late cheap to replace the bearings. A lot of people run aftermarket air filters, HKS Apexi etc. I did mainly as I can clean it instead of straight replacement.and get a tune asap or after any mods your contemplating changes the cars driving imensly.

I think most AWDs have the gearbox and front diff use the connected for the oil so that should be pretty easy, Intake resonator will come out and I have an apexi high flow filter ready for pick up to swap over. Power steering flush is unavoidable as I am swapping over pumps as mine makes some serious whinning noises and the atf dex 3 I read is best so I will follow you there.

Cabin filter might be a next week thing as Id assume I would have to order it in. As for brands, I used to use penrite in my skyline and it never failled me no matter how hard I drove it so good chance I will be using penrite here. The tune is something I will be looking into when my tax returns, I have read Kido is the best lol, pretty sure he pays you guys for advertising

There are plenty of tuners out there BigBadBenny is starting a tuning thread where one can get some honest feedback and good advice on what tuners do what for what price etc.
I personally used XRT and find my tune very good although I have absolutely zero comparison with tunes.

With cabin filter myself and plenty of others have used a hybrid filter I got mine through G88 usually in stock cleanable which is good to save dosh in the long term
