Recommended liquids

Postby Evozn » Sun Jul 06, 2014 11:08 pm

After a little scare of my car running out of brake fluid, it had me thinking, I should change all the liquids. So far this is what I've done.

Engine oil - Penrite 10W-30 Everyday.
Power steering - Sucked the old stuff out with a syringe and refilled with Castrol power steering fluid, the little tiny ones.
Brakes - When I found I had no fluid I topped it with Valvoline 3 dot but the next day my whole system got flushed anyway.

Now the ones I need help with;

Coolant - I was about to buy some green Penrite but they only had one bottle, Supercheap website recommends blue Nulon and I'm reading different information everywhere.
The next two, should I let a pro do it or let it be a DIY job.
Transmission oil - Not sure what to use, dot. Would I need to change the filter too? If I diy it, would I have to worry about what's swimming about at the bottom of the torque converter?
Diff - Not sure again, could I use the same oil on all the diffs?

What would you guys recommend?

Thanks.

diff oils and trans are good. eng oils are reccomended from 'new' but 10w 30 is perfectly fine with 50,000--100,000kms. i went with the full synthetic trans fluid and pro gear 75w90 diff oil

Okay, cool. Transmission and Diff are set, final one is coolant, Nulon Green/Red/Blue concentrate? Yes? No? I was thinking of picking up a blue bottle while they're on sale. And, mixing ratio for it, I was thinking of doing the full 5L and topping up the rest with demineralised water, so 5L coolant and 1.8L of d/m water.
