Noob .. hey love my new ride except for ...

Postby southern_boxer » Tue Aug 12, 2008 8:49 pm

hey guys ...

just took delivery of my new MY08 Liberty sedan, sweet ride, dunno why I didn't look at a Subaru earlier .. anyways.

Dealer fitted 18' alloys as part of the deal ... all good ... except it has been back to the dealer service centre twice for wheel alignment problem.

Tyres are Bridgestone Potenza RE050A 215/45 R18 89W

First time they claimed that front left was out, techy took it for a spin and agreed stating that it shouldn't happen though as is preset back at the factory. Tracked better during the week, on weekend, problem re-occurred??? (no kerbs etc clipped)

Redone today, wheel alignment print out sais all is ok. Advised that it can be a problem with the GT spec with 18' alloys also???

Still pulls to the left despite any given camber on any road. I know that vehicles are meant to have marginal toe to the left, but this is ridiculous. If I let go of the steering wheel it tracks left severely.

Could it be a rim?

Pulls left slightly under medium braking also.

Would appreciate any feedback from the experts before some poor bugger back at the service centre gets me really pissed ...

Welcome,
Maybe you could try taking it to another wheel alignment place and getting them to do it. Otherwise keep hassling the dealer... it shouldn't pull as aggressively as what you're saying.

Welcome! Hopefully you'll enjoy your stay! I'd get a 2nd opinion if I were you. Dealerships aren't that reliable.

And you might want to edit or delete your other post http://forum.liberty.asn.au/viewtopic.php?p=37856#37856 with the same exact text and asking the same exact question as this one. No point trying to split up the replies.

Welcome, def get a 2nd opinion.

Umm, Arith, is your double post about the doublepost just done to emphasise the error of his ways or is it purely an ironic moment in time.

Heh-heh. Sorry. I got a script error the first time I hit the Submit button. When I tried to go back and refresh it ended up being a double post. Tried to delete the 2nd one but you were too quick Kev! :D

...and have you checked the tyre pressures?
Mine were all over the place when the car was delivered. One of the fronts was 59 PSI!

if the dealers telling you its the 18" on a Gt that may be the problem there full of s**t because if this were the case all libertys with the factory 18" would have this problem

all libertys from 2.0 povo pack to the STI are equiped with the same front end components just different shocks which will NOT make a differance to the alignment

get somone else to do the job and make sure they do a 4 wheel alignment job as it may be that the rear alignment is out

As James mentioned its great to have another Perthite! Welcome aboard and def take the car to an alignment place that does AWD. 18" are not the problem.
