New wheels, need technical sizing help

Postby Pete » Sun Jun 29, 2014 3:42 pm

Hi All,

First time post :)

My liberty it a (model BL9DKHL) MY07 2.5i sedan pearl blue. Go Team Blue.

I've had this Liberty for 7+ years now, and finally looking to do a few "subtle" mods.

I would like to get sports rims.
Currently I have on stock rims and tyres: Pirelli 215/45 R17 91W

Ideally I would love to get Enkei Alloy wheels, i.e. from the Subaru site:

I rang up Subaru and they told me the offset of these wheels are not compatible with my MY07.

Now, this raises a bunch of questions.

Sizing
I'm not sure if 18" wheels would fit. Does anyone know? Or how I can find out?
I had a quick measure and 18" looked very tight. But really not sure if I'm measuring correctly.
So, if I can fit 18", I'm happy to go with 17".

Enkei SC22
Next looking into allow wheels, the Enkei SC22 comes very close to the above allow wheels.
Although I couldn't find these in a dark matte colour, i.e. gun metal. I could only find shiny machine faced ones.

Advan RS 17
But found these, and they comes in Dark Gun Metallic.

Next, looking at the wheel sizes (on this page), I can't work out which would best fit my car.

Below are the 17" sizes:
Ref No. Wheel Design Size Hole PCD Offset Color Weight(kg)
Z7723 ADVAN RS 17X7.5 4 100.0 41 DG 6.7
Z7727 ADVAN RS 17X7.5 4 100.0 35 DG 6.7
Z7747 ADVAN RS 17X8 5 98.0 35 DG 7.0
Z7719 ADVAN RS 17X7.5 5 100.0 48 DG 6.7
Z7739 ADVAN RS 17X8 5 100.0 45 DG 7.0
Z7759 ADVAN RS 17X8.5 5 100.0 48 DG 7.2
Z7711 ADVAN RS 17X7.5 5 114.3 48 DG 6.7
Z7731 ADVAN RS 17X8 5 114.3 45 DG 7.0
Z7751 ADVAN RS 17X8.5 5 114.3 50 DG 7.2
Z7763 ADVAN RS 17X9 5 114.3 45 DG 7.7

I read online that my car can take 17x7.0 with ET55 (positive offset 55mm).
But I haven't been able to verify this though.
Does my current tyre size (215/45 R17 91W) reveal which rims I could buy? If it kept the same tyre size.

Can someone that knows please help me out here. As you can see I'm a n00b at this :)

5x100 PCD
+40 to +55 Offset
7" to 8" Width
17" to 19" Diameter
Tyre size will vary, but stick between 215 and 235 wide and profile between 40 and 45
These are rough guidelines if you do not want to modify your suspension/guards/need coilovers etc.

Thank you very much Alex. Great info, helps alot.

PS: Didn't think I could get 18". I may stick with 17", as I'm not sure how easy the process of getting the speedo re-calibrated (with larger tyres), and any other unknowns.

So long as the rolling diameter is the same (within +/- 15mm depending on location) the speedo will be fine

Thank you Zch91, good to know and link very helpful.

I'll post new wheels specs before I buy (i.e. when tyres are due to be change next).
