What do I need for a full system and how to wire it up?

Postby Evozn » Tue Jun 24, 2014 11:19 pm

Hey guys, it's about time I do a wholes sound system upgrade, I've done a lot of reading on LGT but one thing is getting to me, the HVAC system. I'm not sure is it a traditional install or do I need to self wire up a harness, so I got a list, am I missing anything?

- Pioneer unit*
- Fascia
- Climate control unit
- Set of 6.5" component and coaxial*
- 4 Channel amp for speakers
- 2 x 12" subs*
- Amp for subs* - not sure what I need yet.

Now, connecting the radio, can I just use a Pioneer ISO and Subaru harness? Are there actually any Subaru harness' ? I've been to JB and Supercheap but that book they have show absolutely nothing for gen4? Do I need to create my own harness for the HVAC?

Thanks guys.

When you purchase the fascia kit it comes with a separate HVAC module. It's all plug and play. The standard loom will plug straight in to the back of it.

You'll also benefit from purchasing an Aerpro APP090. It's a SUBARU to ISO plug making your head unit install plug and play also.

Do you know what is required for wiring/fuses etc?

I'm not purchasing a fascia kit, I've sourced everything separately, so the HVAC has it's own plug? If so, mad.

Another thing, I went to a place the does installs, Riverside at Hoppers, I was chatting with the guy there and he mentioned that if I do hook up a head unit, I lose the steering wheel control (I know I could get a kit to re hook) but what really got me is he said that by losing the controls, the car doesn't respond properly as the steering wheel controls run through some sort of throttle system that if not connected can cause the car not to start and run properly.

True or False?

Have you managed to find separate HVAC already? Yes it fits the standard loom.

I've never heard that before.

I think hes yanking your chain ive never heard of such a thing aftermarket steering wheel controls work pretty well and are easy to wire up and setup. Youll need to work out your rms for your speakers and subs to know what sort of amps to run and what power cables your gonna need. Worth doing your homework first
