Next up, one of my "tactile" enhancements: some tbSTi leather/suede bum-holders :D
Been in someone's garage for the last couple of years, he actually sold the liberty he bought them for ages ago. They never ended up in the car due to big job of wiring in all the electrics for the motor and airbags. However, going into a GTB it's a matter of 4 bolts and 3 harness clips a side and a couple of hours work and they're in and all working (tho obviously I haven't tested the airbags, but no error lights come up on the dash)
Now all they need is a little TLC with some leather conditioner and a good vacuum to look properly pimpin'. Bring on that matching DAMD steering wheel : )

Still on the look out for a rear seat set to suit a wagon (see want-to-buy thread) as these came out of a sedan, so if anyone knows of some laying around or someplace wrecking a tbSTi wagon, hit me up!
On a similar note... coming soon to a for sale thread near you, some top condition full leather, electric, airbag front seats 8)
What do they go for nowdays?

Awesome, seats depends on year mainly, and how far you are from your buyer as the freight is expensive...
As yours are electric/electric, front only, postFl... PM'd you.

So no luck on the rear seats but I'm keeping an ear out... I was planning to wait till I sound a seat/skin for the rears before seiing the leather seats as a set, but I might just live with the leather rears and sell the fronts as they're just cluttering up the garage. Watch this space...

But onwards with the slow evolution, and the latest touch was made by Leo "HKS180" in the form of LED angel eyes, HID highbeams and LED foglight replacements.

I went for the HID high beams because I do a lot of country highway driving, ie roos and fog. And man are they bright! They're 6000K tho in hindsight I might have gone for a warmer tone as while they are bright and really light up signs and markers, they don't quite have the penetrance or contrast you get with a more natural light.

Leo is a ledgend. I had a great day chilling and chatting while he worked, watching him pull off the front bar with ease, something I'd never seen before. It took a fair bit of tugging as it felt like a "virgin" bar that had never been taken off before. Um, thanks? lol

Angel eyes, thanks Leo!

But seeing how it's done gave me the confidence to roll my own sleeves up and get on all fours and dirty with the Scub, which I haven't done much of lately, and over the last couple of days swapped out the factory BOV with a GFB TMS Response which was a breeze and bolted right in and didn't even need any trimming of the engine cover which I was expecting to have to do :good:
An odd side effect is the BOV sounds complement the intake sounds and now it doesn't annoy me nearly as much for some reason... Go figure : )

The rest of the time was a bit of an ordeal; installing in a set of Hella Supertones. Having seen how it was done, off came the bar and grill and the swearing, head scratching, contortion, creative trial and error and googling ensued.

Some creative wiring. Wired in series using some handy double-ended crimps. The ground is also run in series between them, including the ground from the relay which I wasn't sure would work, but does.

I tucked the relay behind here where it was nice and protected and even had a convenient mounting hole

Where the stock horns were, in front of the driver's side wheel. I ran the ground to the earth/mount the old horns used so I knew it would good earthing point

IMAG1867.jpg
I ran the signal wire through the crash bar across to where the relay sits. A simple blade crimp plugs right in, and I sealed up the other plug with tape just in case. Taped up out of the way against the headlight washer hose.

Finished and wired up. You can see where the relay is hidden on the passenger side and the wires are hidden under the radiator support bar. Ideally I would have hidden the wires going from the relay to the first horn a little better but I was running out of time and had left myself without enough slack to run them up and around. But you don't see when the grill in place anyway. Another time perhaps..

Strangely, after all this, I have somehow developed an irrational hatred of poppits... :angry2: I have to grab a handfull next time my car is serviced as they definitely don't like being popped out and back in more than a couple of times
