H & R Springs

Postby stuwr250f » Fri Jun 13, 2014 2:05 pm

Just wondering if anyone here has tried H&R Springs, I'm thinking about ordering a set ($475) for my H6 liberty and teaming them up with the factory Bilsteins. Not really looking for a stiffer ride, than factory, just the 35mm drop in preparation for a set of 18 x 8 or 19 x 8 rims...

Was thinking about coil overs but might just be overkill for a road car and I don't want crazy low either...If I was going coil overs I'd like something 100% legal and probably would only be willing to go to $2,000 for a set. I'd be happy to fit them myself.

Appreciate any input or thoughts on the topic.

Thanks again.

H&R are big in the Euro communities (VW/Audi in particular). They seem to get a good rap there.

Good coilovers for $2k (and you're not aiming to go too low)? viewtopic.php?f=19&t=26090

H and R and eibach are probably the best quality springs you can get for the billies :) I've heard progressive Kings springs might be worth a shot in the front (king lows).

As for those coilovers...they look nice, who's actually seen how they perform yet?

Thanks guys.

I've heard good things about H&R springs with a few mates running them on WRX's but don't know anyone using them on Liberty's...but mmm those Shockworks set-up's look the money. Wonder about ADR approval, ie are they actually street legal?

If you go with the springs, make sure that they make a set specifically for the wagon (and that's what you get). Wagons have a different spring rate at the rear to the sedans - if you don't get wagon-specific springs, you'll end up with "saggy bum syndrome". :)

As I understand it, they don't meet ADRs (as they provide adjustable ride height). But that doesn't mean you can't get them engineered to be street legal, or that an insurer can arbitrarily refuse an insurance payout (they have to prove that the modification caused or contributed to the accident at that stage).

I have told insurers in the past that my cars have had coilovers, and they haven't batted an eyelid about it (amusingly, my current insurer tried to double my insurance premium because I fitted "aftermarket wheels" on the car - they're STI wheels, once I told them that they're a Subaru factory option on some cars, they were fine).
