It has not been the smoothest journey though, but then that is how we learn, as well as reading entire build threads!

The key is to find a tuner who knows all the interplay between the auto transmission and engine. That is the most crucial. Thereafter, there has not been a mod done on these cars now that does not have some data and results gathered. There are also much better successes in terms of gains with the manual transmission, but then depends on your brief, do you want numbers or daily driver with a bit more poke than stock. Mine is the latter.

What were you using before on the leaking joints ? Teflon tape?

The recommendation was locktite. Since it has been completely redone with the Copper based silicone, have not post a drop across more than two weeks.

Yes, it has been a while...

Since the dyno tune with Matt and Vinny at Got it Rex, the car is running smooth as silk in daily driver mode. WHen I press hard, the shifts also harden up, which I like.

The WTA Cooling system is no longer leaking. Ivan's touch and copper silicone has done the job.

On other fronts, yesterday on the way home, I got another Fault Code, P0051, so looks like I have popped another O2 sensor. I guess that is the price for the state of tune that I have at my disposal.

Elsewhere, I work very close to a Mercedes Benz dealer and I get to drool all over the new cars as they pop up. They often conduct media days from this dealer and I get to see all the cars lined up. Got so tempted that we changed over the missus Impreza for a B200 CDI. A nice little school/shopping trolley, and quite economical. Has a bit more poke than the Impreza as well.

So that has got me thinking about my options, but for the moment, going to just keep cruising in the Liberty, once I get the O2 sensor replaced.

How many O2 sensors have you been through now. Or at least in the last couple of years? Any thoughts on why they need replacing?

Nice pickup on the B200 as well. But yes, a bit of a shopping trolley and I'm not sure a grown man should be seen driving one.

But it'll give you an insight into the tech that some of these Euro cars have that make them so appealing. I'm loving the tech more than the power as there's really no place to use the power legally on public roads.

It's said to extend their life in conjunction with a simple flat copper heatsink...

Yes I have done 3 all up now, so I should try something to extend them.

Pretty happy with the current tune and the flow is right up there now as Alexei was monitoring when we went for a drive today. Boost peaked at 9 psi off the standard pulley, more than enough for my daily driving. And flow, well, I'll leave that for Alexei to comment as I cant quite accurately recall the number, suffice to say it was over 300.

Fuel economy remains at 10l/100k which I am happy with.

Also had the low profile STI lip spoiler added to replace the original high profile one. I got a 2nd hand boot and had it sprayed in 36J, with some colour matching done prior to the mix. They did a good job but unfortunately a small crack has appeared and I will be taking it back to check my options.

And Bruce, I get what you mean about the tech levels. Even in the lower classes of Merc, the tech levels are very good.

Yes I bought 2 sets of sparkplug non foulers and am just sourcing some copper pipe to make the heat sinks.

I think the idea is that it takes the sensor out of the direct exhaust stream, thus protecting it somewhat.

The copper heatsink is more for a WBO2 sensor when the bung is close to the turbine outlet.
Either way excessive heat is harmful to these sensors.

Its something you'd want to get tuned for as well, thus get your tuners opinion before proceeding regardless.

The car logged at 420 g/s, which would put it somewhere at 315kwatw.... but considering bum dyno, it's not quite there. Some knowledgeable people suggested it depends on how the MAF sensor was setup and some other factors, as it seems to be off a little.

Mark and I decided it was anywhere around the 200-220kw area, which falls nicely into the area of similarly modded 3rbSpec's 230kw manual, as the veloci lib is an auto (usually reading 20kwish less than manual with same mods).

The numbers aside...this car sounds like a real SPORTS CAR and pulls hard. The sound of an angry supercharged flat 6 engine with a proper exhaust....it's what I imagine a porsche racecar to sound like The torque is fantastic, like a train pulling out of servos, perfect for some very serious overtaking on freeways...

The top end (that everyone worries so much about when posting their dyno figures for public judging) comes up a little short of what you expect, because the mid range is so strong. IMO it's a supercharger thing as you can feel the engine wants to keep going. Either way this lib is very impressive. And it's still on pump gas!

Mark...PS...Really want to see what this would do if it had a GT35/GT40 turbo on it with some E85.... During a pull, it'll just accelerate harder and harder until your head is resting nicely on the headrest (and the only way to lift your head back up is to back off the throttle)

Thanks Alexei, but 315kw atw is not where my car is at by any stretch. After driving yours, mine is a level or two lower, so a would think maybe nudging 200kw atw is more likely, but regardless of the numbers, it is such a nice drive. And I do be looking forward to driving through the hills with the windows down! Come on summer and a cruise to my favorite twisty tarmac to hear that sweet boxer 6! Mmmmm...

Alexi, I thought the charger builds boost with revs? The h6 charged I drove just pulls all the way to the top and definitely didn't feel lacking.
