What shocks for Gen 4? Not coilovers

Postby shav » Wed May 14, 2014 12:09 pm

Just wondering what options there are for shocks for the Gen 4?

Im looking to keep my ride height stock at this point. Just looking at options to improve my handling without loss of ride quality, lowering or coilovers.
Cheers

Did your car come with bilsteins?

Cos if not that's a pretty good option.

No it didn't. My car is a Premium not a Spec B :(

Hardest part is finding second hand Bilsteins as they are super expensive new.

I would call, as who knows if "paul" would still work there.
The way the tyre industry is he's likely to have moved on ;)

Bad news :-(

I agree with the billies though. Firmer but more stable ride. Those plus the change from 215/45r17 to 225/40r18 have me wanting to avoid any extra harshness of coilovers. (Though Owen and Shockworks sound like they're heading in an epic direction)

Check out Yahoo Auctions Japan. Then email Jesse Streeter (jesse@jessestreeter.com) the link to the ones you want. He'll buy them on your behalf, plus a commission and forward them on.

My Cusco coil overs, for example, were (all prices in Yen):

Item: 134,350
Delivery to Jesse: 0
Bank fee to seller: 630
Commission: 940
Shipping to Aus (DHL, took 4 or 5 days): 21,145

TOTAL: 165,525

I just made a payment for the equivalent (Jesse tells you what it is) into his NAB account and emailed him a screen shot of the deposit receipt (From my phone banking app).

I can't recommend him enough

After a very quick search ("BL5 Bilsteins"):

HTH
Sean..

Seg, would love to get your opinion on my coil overs if you have the time.

Sean,

whaddayagot? In terms of both shocks and rims/tyres.

Shav,

why no coilovers - harshness, legality or price?

JDM Spec B Bilsteins are tuned firmer than the AUDM Spec B ones. They run JDM valved ones in the TbSTi hence why you could buy the standard AUDM Spec B shocks from Tyrepower. If you want a bit more comfort go with JDM GT rather than GT Spec B. I hope that makes sense?
