So I've ordered a 20T version from CMA with either a 0.5 or 0.8 bar waste gate spring (I've asked Dan to make that call but really I don't think the 1.0 bar is needed)
Not sure when it'll arrive, but I'll keep everyone updated.

As for the bell mouth option, I had a chat with a few buddies of mine and I think I might not go ahead with that as not all DPs will be created equal so plan on keeping the stock zorst (save for the tbSTi muffs I have) will make for more reliable comparison and data (if anyone has input on this, fire away, I'm open to suggestions...such as a loner???)

I did notice a couple differences between the size of the 19T and 20T versions:

20T
Comp wheel: 47/58mm 20T / 11 blade
Turbine: 46/58 mm 9 blade

19T
Comp wheel: 42/56 mm 19T
Turbine: "TD04HL / 11 blade high flow Iconel wheel" (whatever that means).

Both have twin scroll 8.5 cm rear housing.

I went for the 20T because I figure that if "TD04HL / 11 blade high flow Iconel Wheel" is code for "same as the 20T version", then the 20T would flow more air and thus be the better buy (unless I have this wrong, the bigger dimension of the 20T comp wheel should be able to flow more air, right?)

So from here, I'll finish my tuning on my stock turbo and get a dyno run done.
(NB: if I can get ahold of a suitable bell-mouthed DP for a 5EAT, I'll tune for that also but I suspect I'm not going to make much more power with the stock turbo...)

Also, Rusty ("04GTLIB") has kindly offered me his stock TD-04HLA to play with so I'll get a tune for that and see how it compares.

All tuning will likely be done with my Grimmspeed 3-port BCS.

Cheers
Sean..

The 19T turbo offered on the Kinugawa site is a td04-hla is it not? Ie, if you look at the images it has TD04HLA written on the compressor housing.
I would be very interested to see how the 20t goes.
Kinda flush. Fitment is something. ADM as F*ck.

Same is stamped on the 20T version (it's blurry but you can make it out..)
I think they must just take a TD04HLA and put a new CHRA in it :dntknw:

I was thinking they just got lazy and used the same pictures for the 20T one.

Will definitely keep an eye on this thread, as I have been mulling over a new turbo for a little while now. I have the stock TD04 turbo right now and would like to stay twin scroll, and stick with the aftermarket dump pipe I've already got.

Thanks for the all the research you're doing, Sean and others. Much of this kind of stuff goes over my head.

I think a guy i bought a blown vf38 from has gone down the kinugawa twin scroll route

From my brief messages with him a while back he said:

Yeah I've felt an incredible increase in power and I still haven't upgraded the ECU or tune so good so far.

he was going todo the vf38 with vf34 internals but didnt have time so he went the kinugawa option so high chances it will fit straight up

So to clarify, the turbo Archie inquired about:
http://shopping.kinugawaturbo.com/kinug ... oll-1.aspx

will bolt onto a pre-face automatic GT, without having to modify anything else, correct?

And it therefore will fit a manual pre-face GT, but will need the down pipe to be modded to fit?
