Hi guys,
As some of you already know I am currently in the development process of some "next level" (thanks BBB) coilovers for the BL/BP chassis.
A little bit about the company -
Shockworks provides custom damper tuning for road and race cars. Shockworks also consults to vehicle manufacturers, tuning vehicle suspension for both high performance and passenger vehicles, including small volume concept vehicles. Fully equipped damper tuning workshop, including full dyno report and data. “On track” race team support during practice days. As with our partner Techracing we also have many years testing suspension systems and new technology components and perform ride and handling testing at proving grounds and race tracks to meet and exceed target vehicle attributes. Shockworks can advise and support OEM damper manufacturers on how to improve valve design, warranty issues, production line repeatability and consult for ride tuning sessions with vehicle manufacturers.
Our experience and technology gives us unique tools and expertise to solve your road vehicle ride and handling issues. And incidentally, we have a lot of road vehicle experience. Shockworks has consulted for several prominent vehicle and shockabsorber manufacturers, tuning their chassis for both high performance driving and passenger vehicles, including small volume concept vehicles.
But that’s not the only experience we have. Prior to starting Shockworks Pty Ltd, Brett O’Brien, our Technical Director, spent 15 years in the OEM automotive industry. He was a damper tuning specialist at Delphi Automotive Systems, and global driver trainer for chassis engineering staff. Also consulting to Prodrive Automotive Technologies Asia Pacific for various chassis related projects.
Brett has developed and tuned standard and electronically controlled suspensions on all types of vehicles from small cars such as the Suzuki Swift to sports and luxury cars. This includes local vehicles such as FPV and HSV. He has tuned cars for most of the major manufacturers either working for the company or as a Tier 1 supplier. Brett has also tuned Armoured Land Rover Discovery for Government diplomats and concept vehicles like the FR-1 for the Automotive centre of excellence in Melbourne. He still supports car manufacturers in Asia and Australia so understand current chassis and tuning trends.
A little bit about what I'm doing with them -
I'm acting as a dealer and assisting R&D. My Liberty is used as a tuning model, on the street and on the track to develop an end product that is better than KW V3, Ohlins DFV, MCA Red and certainly better than any Japanese brand that can be bought off the shelf (they are much too harsh for our roads).
My car will undergo hours and hours of testing through the bumpy roads of Monbulk with Chris & myself testing, then another weekend at Winton with myself driving to achieve the best damping possible. The same is happening with my Golf GTI and we did the same thing with my AE86. I managed to shave 4 seconds off my lap time at Winton with the new Shockworks setup vs the original TRD coilovers I had.
What I want to find out is how many people would be interested in this kit? I'm after a realistic EOI so I know how many kits I should make for the first production run. So far I have 4 people confirmed, with numerous people expressing verbal interest. I would love to avoid ordering 10 sets and have 6 sets sitting in my garage for 12 months.
I'm selling these kits at $2000 inc GST, and ETA for completion is currently aimed at August.
Happy to answer any questions here, PM or via any other way you can contact me.
