B4 timing belt

Postby BE4ORE » Wed Apr 30, 2014 4:51 pm

Hey guys,

Just recently purchased a B4 and it's about to hit the 200km mark so i'm assuming timing belt is almost due to be done!

Who is good around Melbourne with good work and good prices? Also, I been getting mixed messages about either just doing the belt itself or the whole kit???

I know doing the whole kit is a better option but just the kit alone is like $750 plus labor on top... I can't justify that...

Can someone please enlighten me or give me the correct direction about this.

Thanks heaps.

If it was me I would just do the belt plus anything that has failed, cam seals, water pumps, idlers ect however I do all my work myself so If your going to pay someone to do it it would proberbly be more long term financially to have everything done in one hit

I wouldn't know where to start if i did it myself... i have some kind of knowledge mechanically but not to that extend!

The mechanic im going to seems to be good and know his stuff... he said we'll do what you suggested, try to change what needs to be done to cut down cost but then again, we'll know more once he opens it up!

Hopefully i can still have both of my kidney's by the end of that LOL!

F*** that shit man... what a rip off... the whole Dayco kit is for about $700 and 3 hours of labor would be about $300... so what the heck is the other $$$ for???

they can go screw all their screwdrivers where they fit lol!

Ended up getting the job done for $1100.00. (Not at subaru) But I'll need to double check the final price.
