HI I have only just joined this forum. I have placed a deposit on a 2006 my 06 3.0 spec b manual sedan subject to racq mechanical inspection and will be picking it up next weekend. To be honest I am pretty niave about cars but I am a quick learner. I am a hreen p plater from Brisbane until november. Also I have no idea if I am meant to place my first post somewhere else or if here is fine.
But anyway on subject I am interested on the e85/98 tune. Who would I contact in brisbane about getting it done? Also I'll be moving to mackay next year for uni for 2 years, would the tune be fine to run on 98 for that long with the occasional e85 when I come to brisbane?
Thanks for any help, and sorry if this was the wrong place to post. I look forward to participating in these forums over time.

P.s. the tune seems great for e85, what sort of improvements would I be seeing on the 98ron side of things.

Mackay is about to get E85 in a few weeks, you can also buy E85 in Sunshine Coast, Hervey Bay, Gladstone, Rockhampton and North Brisbane as well... so driving to and from Mackay would not be a problem. Of course, for the 06 H6, flex fuel compatibility means you can run 98 if needed

98 gains are fantastic as well and transforms the car :)

On the 512k ECU will the the flex fuel map mean that running on 98 RON will be worse than a specific 98 map?

Pretty sure the flex fuel map isn’t possible for the 512kb ECU at this stage.

08/09 H6 5EAT D2UJ001T ROM - Fully Tested and functional.
07/08 H6 5EAT D2UH001T ROM - Fully Tested

08/09 H6 6MT D2UJ001M ROM - In Testing - No new developments as it is only one car. Pretty much nailed it though
07/08 H6 6MT D2UH001M ROM - Functional and waiting on final testing.

06 H6 6MT D0XJ001M ROM - Testing in progress
06 H6 5EAT D0XJ001T ROM - Testing in progress

MY09+ 2.5i Liberty/Outback - 4EAT + CVT + 5MT Coding to Come
MY09+ 3.6L Liberty/Outback 5EAT Coding to Come

MY07+ 2.5i Liberty/Outback - 4EAT + 5MT Coding in progress

512Kb

05 H6 6MT D2WD610H - Experimental 2D Inj Pulswidth multiplier but full timing control
04 H6 6MT D2WD603H - Experimental testing

03/04/05 5EAT's D2ZY101H plus D2ZY110H in development

I have the 04 H6 6MT D2WD603H - Experimental testing
So there could be some light on the horizon.
Worst case scenario I can have a separate map for each fuel and have to keep a charged laptop on the car.

Hey Matt,
How is DOXJ001M ECU going? I see talk about fuel flex which is something I thought was off the cards so the other dual fuel method you came up with was required?
Figured I would post rather than PM for those that are interested.

cheers.

DOXJ001M is full flex fuel now pending final testing as it is 1Mb ;)

D2WD603H and D2WD610H are currently being rewritten. Think I have a better way of doing it

Just flicking through this thread. I have an the DW65C fuel pump and an Australian-made Cooper fuel filter (under $50 for the plastic filter, no sock though) ready to go in. I can either go and find the Toyota fuel sock to fit, or use the DW one... but apparently this can cause pickup issues?

Also I have run 1 tank of 5% e85 to clean the system... is this enough "cleaning" before changing over to my e85 tune (flex fuel tune from Matt) with the new fuel filter/pump? (obviously don't want to clog up the new filter straight away!)

I used dw sock and it works fine :)

5% probably won't clean much....you can try running premium 100 for a month if you like, but I doubt you'll be clogging anything up straight away. I swapped my pump in and switched to ethanol for 5000kms+ now, hard pulls rough driving, nothing is clogging up yet. Also running a single o ring with no issues.

I'm about to open up the fuel pump assembly again and take a look at the filters and if need be, replace anything, will be happy to snap some pics (if anyone wants) of what it looks like after 5k. Should be done early next week :)

My lib has 180k on the clock, new engine + bigger turbo. I highly doubt there's anything close to clogging up, top end is very strong and afrs are great.

Cool yeah photos would be interesting. Mine has 170,000kms on the clock - original engine. How come you needed a new one?

Have been running BP Ultimate (98) since I've had it - suppose that would keep the fuel lines relatively clean.

Blown head gasket. (I think we) Had symptoms just before the switch to e85 and it only made it worse. I'd be very careful with e85 on a stock engine.... it makes serious torque/ie. High cylinder pressures. There aren't many stock engined turbo libs that lasted more than a year on e85. It's very easy to pop the heads on this stuff....

It's amazing fuel....just notice that most of us using it have had the engine rebuilt either before the switch or within a year after (for whatever reason). Another few subies on other forums similar timing of events... something to keep in mind :)
