ok got a response from subaru aus

Thank you for your email to Feedback at Subaru Australia.

With regards to your enquiry, we regret to advise that you may only have
one or the other - unfortunately the STI lower lip will not attach
correctly with the under body spoiler in place. I trust this provides
the answers you seek and I welcome any further enquiries you may have.

so Arith your right on this.. but i still want the STI lip but dont wanna remove the extra spoiler thats on my car..

anyone got any spare cable ties lol

Phat told me the price of the HKS filter went up a bit, but I never realised it would shoot up to a couple of thousand!

Congrats on the filter! You're on your way!

Phat refered me to liverpool exhaust to just get my current stock mufflers modified to fit the quad tips.. but after going there they seem to think they couldnt do it... (somehow i think they werent telling me truth)

and they recommended me to buy there already setup quad mufflers with tips (same as STI) i believe they use there own brand hurricane mufflers.. all up they quoted me $600 installed.. any feedback?

If you care anything about your car, you'll avoid universal setups. Sometimes they do sound good, but most of the time it comes with drone inside the cabin. It's happened to me one too many times in the past to never recommend a universal fit system if you can help it.

Save up your money and get something that's been designed for and tested on Libertys. Plenty of brands to go with, so don't rush it. It all comes down to personal preference so just decide what you're looking to get out of an exhaust upgrade. Otherwise you'll be out of pocket if you don't like it and have to switch back or to something else.

yes that was my initial concern as well..

the muffler dude assured me the sound wont drone and will be a nice sound as he said he has done it before to a liberty and it turned out nice..

he also told me if i didnt like the noise, he would remove it free of charge.. so hopefully it doesnt come to that thou.. might turn ugly lol

Haha. Well, if they're willing to remove it for free (I'm sure they get a lot of these requests) and you have a spare $600, might as well give it a punt if you're inclined.

But like I said, just be cautious because I've been told that line many times before and I personally didn't like the result. But you might in this case! Never know!

Good luck! Sometimes it's tough being the guinea pig. :D

thanks for the heads up.. i know im going to be the guinea pig in this case.. but i just couldnt justify the $1200 odd dollars for a STI or hi-tech muffler system..
