Ohlins DFV Coilovers discontinued

I'm currently in the process of having a new line of top of the range or "next level" coilovers made up for the gen 4 Liberty.

My own car will be used as a guinea pig with days and days of testing on the street and track, with myself and Brett (founder of Shockworks) doing the testing and will be on par, if not better than the top of the line brands you can buy off the shelf right now.

Stay tuned, as I will be opening up a group buy as soon as I'm satisfied with the overall design and valve coding I shall be opening up a commercial seller section to supply these bad boys, as well as BBKs to suit our cars.

Bilstein weren’t released for the liberty only for the WRX.

All Bilstein can be re-built.

Whether they are really good as a substitute for r something at the Ohlins level is s another matter.

Yeah, there are Bilstein coils for the Gen IV and Gen V Libs; dazzz168 has some gen v spec BSS14s (or something) in his Foz

As for a contender to the ohlins, apparently. At least according to one US guy (on legacygt.com) who tried the Bilsteins, the the Ohlins (but I'm not sure if he tried the DFV version), the KW but went back to the Billie coils.
Of course, suspension is a very personal thing.

To clarify, I've seen the legacygt forum guys refer to Spec B billies and then HD (heavy duty?) billies....Are our AUSDM SpecB billies equivalent to their SpecB or HD billies?

As I have a 3.0 RB too, good question.

It's been said that an auto 2.5 GT weighs almost the same at the front end as a 3.0, so whilst STI do offer 3.0 specific front (and rear?) pink springs, I would guesstimate that if these coil overs work well in the 4 cylinders they have been reported to do, they should be fine for the 3.0s too. People have fitted springs STI pinks meant for the 2.5s on the 3.0 with no apparent ill effects and they still looked level. In any case these coilovers will fit all 4gens.

Hello Everyone,

Looks like I generated quite a bit of health discussion. Just wanted to thank you all for your input and advice.

I decided to contact Jamie from DMS and sent the rear shock for him to measure up; apparently the front is identical to a WRX. They had the rear shock for a day, and the round trip time was less than a week; so I had my car back within the week. Two weeks later they had manufactured the kit; its a new made to order kit for the BL5 Gen IV. So now DMS now makes a kit for our car....yes you can all thank me now!

I also bought their adjustable front top mounts and Jamie suggested I swap out the rear top mounts for EVO V/VI top mounts....apparently they are the same bolt pattern but give the rear struts allot more travel than the BL5 ones. URL of the adjustable front top mount below; they will not and cannot strip like other adjustable top mounts.

The kit will be delivered to John French Subaru to be fitted on this Tuesday the 29th of April; John French will be make a photo expose and posting the pics on their website.

The cost.....$5600....excluding fitting! Yep allot more than the Ohlins...but they will be the DUCKS GUTS!

Not sure where you are getting your information from or why you think the local distributor has changed their policy. The policy was change for the local distributor when Ohlins Sweden sent the local distributor an email saying they had discontinued the Legacy coilovers due lack of volume. Apparently they were making allot more money out of EVO kits etc. I know this because I was made to wait 4 months, after I was told and assured by Ohlins Sweden if I was prepared to wait 4 months and paid in full in advance I would get what they promised. Several emails and verifications were sent assuring me that things were on track.....a week before they were due to arrive they told the distributor that they no longer made them.

I have the emails from Sweden and the distributor, I don't think its appropriate that I paste that over the forum.

If they have since changed their mind, do what I did, pay 4K in advance.....and hope they do right by you.

Either way, I will never recommend Ohlins or purchase any of their gear....the way they treated me, their customer is despicable and extremely poor.

I didn't change the thread, the forum users did.....as far as I am concerned Ohlins has discontinued the coilover kit for the Legacy. Sure there may be some stock sitting on shelves in the USA, the local distributor verified as much for me after the stuff up an waiting for 4 months, but I wasn't prepared to give Ohlins another go.

So unless someone here is able to order a new Ohlins kit from Sweden for our cars....I think its still fair to say the Ohlins BL5/BP5 kit for the Legacy is discontinued and the forum topic stands.
