Front brembo upgrade ....new lines help

Postby nhimsta » Tue Apr 15, 2014 11:02 am

Hi I hope someone who has done this already can assist me .
I have a my06 (spec b)and I'm fitting front brembos .
Questions on new braided lines ...
Can I buy already made lines
Are the position of the calipers in regard to the position of the brake line different , does the new line need to be shorter or longer.
Is there any site sponsors here that stock these particular lines .
I have been told I can get new lines made that are ADR approved .
Thanks for your help in advance .

HEL or Goodridge lines are fine. All the ADR's dictate is that the item meets or exceeds the specification of the OEM item, which both brands do. They do not explicitly need to be certified for it.

Remember to buy the Liberty kit, not the WRX kit, as Liberty's have six lines, not four. Braided lines are a direct replacement for the OEM lines. Remove the old one and replace with the new one. Re-use the OEM bolt for holding the line onto the strut.

The front Brembo's are direct bolt-on replacements for the front OEM calipers. Nothing else needs to be done other than ensuring that you have appropriately sized and offset wheels to clear the front face of the Brembo.

Also, I recommend you buy a flare nut wrench for doing and undoing the line nuts. Don't use a regular spanner. Have a bucket handy and plenty of water in a squeeze bottle to dilute spilt brake fluid with so it doesn't strip any paint off your new Brembo's or mark the ground.

Finally, I recommend you also consider replacing your Master Brake Cylinder with an STi MBC. Pumps 13% more fluid to the calipers for more assured and firmer braking. Also consider a MBC brace.
I was going to procrastinate, but I put it off...
