5.5 seconds on a p-plate legal car, Jay you must be loving life

Reckon that increase in torque will put too much strain on the chassis and surrounding areas over time? Or are they built to take it? Just thinking long term running E85 constantly.
I've already noticed a huge increase in torque off the line just running 98 with a kido tune, and thats just the stock tune, still need to hear from Matt some time this month when he makes the trip down to do the finer tuning :)

You're underestimating the liberty a bit. You're looking at much more torque and power to break the chassis than a 5.5 second lib. More like a sub 4 second lib with 250kwatw+. And even then it would depend if you do hard launches daily or if it's used for a daily.

A blown engine is more common on this forum, and thankfully it's not too common. :)

Drive shafts are what let go. As pointed out above the chassis isnt really at risk when running a stock motor with a tune...
Kinda flush. Fitment is something. ADM as F*ck.

Okay that's awesome, I'm keen on getting onto E85, just a tad confused about the parts needed to make it all work properly. But I'm sure Matt can help out with that part closer to when he comes down.

Yeah its awesome fun to drive. Not really sure if its technically “legal” in Vic. Does the Power/Weight law still exist? Would never be done for it anyway.

You NEED a new fuel pump. DW65C from Tuspeed in Coburg for about $160. You SHOULD replace the fuel filter as well- don’t have to though.
And i’d buy a tactrix from the US to keep on top of LV’s and logging because Matt isn’t in Melbourne every week.

If the Vic laws are similar to the SA laws, I'm theory e85 wouldn't be legal on p's because it's a 'performance modification'. But meh, who's to know...

Can technically say it's for lower cylinder temps, safer engine/less knock and "the environment". Burning E85 in your engine doesn't have to make more power, it just gives you that option, because it makes the engine work so smoooothly.

Fark, tell them the ethanol actually carries less energy per unit, so how can it be a power mod?! 8)

Thanks for the info Jay!! Now I just need to find out if its easy to switch between fuels or not, because I do a lot of long trips to the coast/snow and obviously finding stations with E85 is going to be hard until the government starts supporting it!

Also as far as cops are concerned, there's no way they can tell that your car is tuned let alone that you're running E85! My mate got defected because a cop though his alternator was a turbo  they're barely trained at all when it comes to mods, so as long as you're tasteful I don't think you'll get into any strife :)

Hey Jay

Im interested to know what ur LV's and general logging have shown up with ur E85 tune. Any inconsistantsy's or potential issues. Are u testing ur E85 source.

Mine is running faultlessly apart from ongoing BOV issue not giving the max boost that it should be. I have no tactrix or required software so Im relying on
occasional tune checks with Matt, one of which im due for now. Mines mechanical health and fluid levels/temps give me a certain confidence but this is
obviously not a dead certainty compared to LV's and logs.

Also how many E85 kms have you clocked up now and have you done an Oil Analysis as yet. Im at 2500kms now & intend to dump a sample at 3000kms. As per
Mick's recommendation.

I would be super keen for one of these tunes in a couple of months.
Sounds amazing

Hey mate,

I’ve done heaps of LV’s, each one displayed zero knock values and the IAM has always been 1.000. The only thing thats changed over tunes is the A/F which has never been anything far from the normal!

I’ve done between 2500-3000km’s on since the switch, in which i did an oil change the day after. I plan on changing the oil ASAP, hopefully next week if i get the time.
I’ll let you know!

Do yourself a favour and get the oil tested, either send it to "lubrication management" in dandenong or find another good mob to test it for you.

Last time I was there for an oil check I travelled 5000km on 98, 3000km on E85 and the oil was still good for at least another 2000km - on a turbo engine that gets pushed pretty often. Not wearing out and barely holding together, but specifically "good aka fully functional for at least another 2000km". $60 of your cash and you'll know and we'll know the rough life expectancy of your oil for the H6 on corn. Maybe some of you H6 owners want to chip in for the test?

3000km on an N/a that's not a track car might start to sound silly once you get the test results back, more cash in your pocket down the track :)
