Does moving the MAF sensor affect the system. Hopefully not too noob a question. Always something I have pondered

Possibly it will and possibly why it 'must require a tune'

Pipework diameter increase at the MAF housing also requires retune. More cross sectional area means more air passes for the same MAF voltage generated ;)

I'm following this with great interest.

Also, are you testing along the intake to identify where the drop is occurring?

I have definitely not gone over it piece by piece, however if I was a betting man i would place the blame squarely on the amount of area/airflow the air filter offers, its pretty small. The Suzuki GTi 1.3 Swift that I owned back in 1988 had an air filter that big - almost.

Interesting about the air filter, I'm surprised there would be so much in it.

I was mucking around with our FG XR6 work ute on the dyno and with the air filter removed and the dyno fan blowing towards the air intake, all it gained was about 3Kw.

That sounds about right to me - for a Falcon, Commodore and Falcon aren't very compromised on intake air capacity or their exhaust systems either in stock form over the last 4 years

Other vehicles like Toyota Hilux V6 can find an easy 10hp - have proven that one

Subaru Impreza - 2.5RS specifically gains nearly 6Kw with a corrected air intake. I have never thought to check the size of that filter compared to the Liberty - near willing to bet its not much different now I think about it like that

I may have missed something, but does this upgrade involve a larger area filter and housing?
If the Impreza filter was the same as the Liberty, then I guess you would expect a bigger gain with the Liberty due to the larger engine.

The H6 sounds good in standard form, but that seems better again.

(I needed headphones on to hear the file!!) :)

This involves replacement of everything up to the resonator box. The pod which will be supplied absolutely has enough flow capacity and much more in reserve, the intake, MAF area --------- all different

I am highly likely to be putting the filter in same location as on the supercharged cars but with larger top plate so it cannot be seen.

Just back from testing a Holden VU SS w/cammed LS1 5.7 with a Raptor charger (VLB) fitted with owner designed intake and discharge. Measured a record -33" H2O at charger intake!!! The air intake was 100mm round pipe or better connected to an OTR. Hmm, our first option was to simply remove filter and run again, new measurement of -.5" H2O!!!! What a massive difference and gained over 1psi boost!!

So, driven in the same manner, could we expect an increase in fuel economy with this CAI??

(Please say yes, it makes it a lot easier when justifying mods to the finance department.)

Got any updates on development/production??

Another (longer) sound clip building & dropping revs would be awesome too!
