Alexei the shifting issue is directly linked to boost as the tcu threshold parameters for boost shift is below a certain point

If you're boosting too hard in first and over revving it won't shift

I had this problem consistently as I was running ewg with hks evc-6 and therefore could not taper boost back before redline to allow the tcu to register a shift command

A 3 port / ecu controlled boost tapering would have solved this

Hey Sean, it's definitely not fluid related. It happens at any temperature, and fluid has just been changed. It's directly related to line pressure/Requested Torque I'm logging. Higher in s and s #.

Strangely enough this started happening on Matt's dyno tune and I've tried everything Matt's suggesting except changing timing and injector pulse. I don't think injector pulse will make a difference, but you're welcome to see it for yourself matt :)

That's what I thought a few weeks ago. Everything has been tapered off already....Req Torque is causing the gear to lock up in S and S# even running I's DBW which has ridiculously low boost.

And another interesting thing - running S# dbw in I mode - ie. Higher boost - it shifts out!

Any ideas?

13.2psi peak power tune, needs a little more boost but not bad for 2 people in the car either. Notice the 1st to 2nd gearsnap :)

that's pretty good gear changes, not dsg but fair better than stock I must admit

Thanks :)

Cannot even pick a single gearshift other than watching the tacho drop now.

No thank you, I like my auto :) Just because it won't shift out by itself in 1st, and I might have to actually use my fingers to click the paddle to shift  "OH, no!" Certainly not reason enough to sell a good car.

Waiting for next Calder park date 11th April.

Still no message from you Matt.

My logs - ABS wheel speed, GPS and real life speed vs other cars - no slip.

You are claiming my speedo is off 25km/hr and my clutch is slipping without anyone noticing in real life, while you notice in a video ( :? ) - but then fail to follow it up with proof?

the GPS lag is just too great for that to help. from my screen garbs, it's over 2 seconds of lag (or your speedo is off)
and by the time you lift off it's probably correct as the gearbox slippage stops when you back off the throttle.
I'm not agreeing either side is right or wrong, it's very difficult to measure a dynamic system without dedicated gear.
even a dyno doesn't help as the dyno's ramp-rate will limit the cars natural acceleration

Can you actually log ABS Wheel speed on an auto.?

here's my two screen grabs

the first is just as you get the throttle moving
The second is the moment before the GPS actually registers any speed

The interesting thing is why is the GPS lagging? The speed doesn't rise gradually like it does on a speedo, rather it gets 'updated' every 1-2 seconds. Look at screenshots at what times the GPS screen changes. Here are some I prepared earlier :D Accurate down to 0.04sec.

The GPS updates at 16.28s, 17.32s, 19.28s, 20.27s and 21.26.

So we can assume the GPS has a lag of 1-2secs. Not due to vehicle speed, but due to the GPS signal speed, processor speed etc. Now the big question is....does the GPS catch up with the car speedo within the parameters of its own processing time?

I let off the throttle at around 20.2-20.4s, (let's say 20.3 to average it out), the GPS is due to update in another 0.95s. My speedo is sitting at 120ish. The tacho drops rpm over the next second as the engine brakes, the speedo doesn't move...at 21.26 the GPS shows 115km/hr.

Now I can concede that there is a possibility the tacho is going crazy, but the bigger picture here is this - how would my speedo be off by 25km/hr, if it doesn't move after the car stops accelerating? And then matches the GPS right on time with the GPS' next expected update?

No, if something was wrong with the clutch, and the speed was calculated off rpm - then the speedo would never have matched the GPS within a second. The car would simply not get up to speed if the speedo was off by that much.

No, I think I got a little too excited regarding ABS wheel speed, it was only individual wheel speed you can log on the auto, which is what I was referring to/confusing with ABS wheel speed

My question is, what trap speed are you expecting to see from a non slipping car?

good points about the refresh,
my only concern is this
As the torque falls away with rising rpm (IF there is slippage to begin with)the box will slip less.
So at redline, the speedo might be right, but at peak torque (4000rpm say) it could be miles out.

Without a reliable standalone system that refreshes in realtime, who knows.
Maybe a wind=speed gauge mounted to the front of the bonnet.. :D :D

What power is your car supposed to be making?

Yes that's a fair point too, (though Matt doesn't mention this at all), but is it possible for the gearbox to be slipping while pushing you back in the seat and then stop slipping without any noticeable change in the cabin?

Hahaha, yeah I doubt we'll go that far

Around 200atw I think? Might be going in for a dyno in the next month or so, so we'll see

200ATW for 1600kg
maybe 105mph..?

If you're on the dyno,
reading off actual wheel-speed @ various rpm, or inputting the ECU's road speed into the Dyno's Logger in the lower gears might help to show any difference in indicated vs actual speed

Alexei,
PM your email and I'll send you a file of a 3rd gear log of mine from my Foz (when i'm home next week I'll log my LGT too)

a graph of vehicle speed vs engine RPM from your car compared to my Foz will allow rough comparison between to 5EATs making ~200. Sure there are more accurate ways, but it's a start ;)
