Wow you do not muck around mate :)

Congratulations on the purchase, it's looking great so far!

I can see you really like those pink springs, but what rates are they?

I sincerely doubt you will like them. Compared to some Eibach (actually regardless of the brand) 300lbs and 400lbs springs front and rear respectively...the sti pinks are for a boat.

IMHO if you fit them you'd have wasted time and money :(

Thanks Alexei!

Yeah no mucking round getting appropriate tyres and an RSB on! The LCA bushes were more a necessity than anything, but they would've been changed eventually.

I haven't yet fitted the STi pinks, but yes I'm keen on them because I've been "given" them (in return for a significant discount in parts from my Foz I sold...). I'm keen to try them with some Konis...at least until I decide on what coils :? So many decisions
HKS? Bilstein? Cusco? Tein? Ohlins? Or go cheaper and run the risk of needing colon reconstructive surgery by Christmas :|

I'm not one for half-assing suspension as I've been in plenty more powerful cars than I've owned that handled like crap and were either just a handful to drive or downright scary...one example being a WRX of a guy at work that ran the ¼ mile in 12.1 (compared to my 12.9 in my Foz) but on a local mountain run, I down right flogged him because I had suspension that was much better dialled in for my car's power and geometry... not to mention I had brembos compared to his stock brakes

So..yeah...for me, handling is key. Look at the BRZ/86: immense amounts of fun with nothing but a really nice set of tyres and all from "just" 147 kW at the fly and stuff-all torque

Oh and the pinks are these from J-parts, so roughly 4 kg/mm F and 6 kg/mm R... Coils I'm looking at are 6 F/R +/-1 kg or so... still trying to gauge what's appropriate for a wagon that does on occasion get filled to the brim so a saggy butt is not an option.

Thanks for looking
Sean..

My Ohlins with 7kg F & 9kg Rear have been helped to control the Lib.
Even 6F 8R or 5F 7R if you dont want the hardest livable spec.

Ya, suspension is king! :)

I'm running 5.5F 7.5ishR on custom bilsteins shocks. Massive improvement over the stock/pink springs, but when you start pushing some killerwasps around corners even they start to give a little.

If you have some dosh for ohlins or bilstein coils, as you were saying about Daz' setup, you can go heavier on the springs without worrying about compromising comfort.
Soooo jealous of ohlins/bilsteins :D

Linear, custom made similar to Eibach quality. I wanted to try progressive springs at the front for a bit more comfort, but busy with some other mods :)

Cheers for the input guys. Really not sure how hard I want them. I'll fit up the STi springs and go from there I reckon...

:air_kiss: You know who's saggy butt I love the most :D

Benny if ride height is to be tweaked after STi pinks go on, it'll be via selling them and installing coilovers most likely...

So I've basically got suspension sorted; I'm just awaiting parts.

Oh crap that's reminds me Ian, I need to come get something from you ;)

I took a little visit to Kris and Wendy today... New toys on their way soon: JDM GRB headers, up pipe and turbo... Staying twinscroll; VF56 :D

An update on today's activities:
I had a day in lieu today so I took the time to do a few car-related things

Firstly I picked up my 3D floor matts from the post office. Great product! They're so cool!

Then took a drive up to the Sunny Coast to speak with Kris at Rising Sun. As I said in my previous post, I have asked him to get me a VF56 and associated hardware. I'm hoping to have this about late April.

Also spoke with him about a new engine. The engine I have is high km (just shy of 240,000) but appears strong: other than a rough idle (dirty sensor somewhere??) it runs really well and revs smoothly and cleanly (actually revs a little freer than my old SH Foz which had ⅓ the kms, go figure). So he threw a few options at me: V7 STi EJ207 shorty with my EJ20Y heads, ADM EJ257, JDM GR/GVB 207, or a built 2.5L block with my EJ20Y heads...

All are about the same coin and they all have their strengths and weaknesses.
After having thought most of the arvo and evening, I'm thinking a built 2.5L block with the LGT heads. This has the benefit of more low-down torque than a 2.0L (minimal yes, but still more), and doesn't "need" to be revved as hard as the 2.0L does; a consideration for me given I have an auto. Also has the benefit of, if done right, ending up with a combo capable of close to 300kW but will only be working to make ~225 on the VF56. So it won't be overly stressed.

I do appreciate any input from others who've had any experience with a similar decision (unfortunately, Mick, the Spec C engine is becoming a bit like unicorn crap apparently...)

Also today (yeah kind of a big one), I picked up some speakers and amps for my car:
- Polk Audio components and coaxes F & R,
- Clarion shallow 10" sub (to go in the same spot the McIn sub goes, the side panel on the boot), and
- a Kicker 4x 80W and Option Audio mono 300W amps run power them.

Install of the amps cabling (power) started tonight:

I'm going to take it Slowly and get it do e right the first time. I know I could pay someone to do it much faster, but that to me is cheating.

I'm still undecided on the HU: I'm not sure if I want gps built in or just a great double DIN HU... Agai , any words of wisdom???

Thanks for reading
Sean..
