Rattles!

Nearly everything is in here to start with.
If it's about your car, or Subaru's in general, put it in "Subaru Chat".

Yea mine rattles a little when I have it in place but i usually store mine under the boot floor, yes there is a special storage slot under the floor for the blind & the flap that hangs off the hatch.
Even a Subaru salesman didn't know that, The wife was playing dumb & asked what do you do with it if you need to carry a large load, & he told her to leave it at home or just slide it down the side. Then i walked over & had to show him where to store it.

Chris

You deadset bloody legend. I will be checking that this eve, awesome.

Are you serious!? I had a good poke around under there when I was topping up my spare a few weeks ago & I couldn't see any extra room!

Can you post a few pics for fools like me (& Subaru dealers by the sound of it!)

Cheers

The owners manual shows you where!
It's right at the back, lengthways across. You have to pop up at least one of the side bits of floor to get it in.

Dropped my car off & Subaru this morning & they finally admitted that the sunroof rattles were pretty bad (Only took like 3 years of telling them!).

I also tried to point out a few other rattles I had in the tail gate etc & they turned around & told me "You've lowered your car sir, fix your own rattles". Honestly, that ticked me off. Especially when the problems have been noted every time we've come in for servicing etc, even before the suspension was touched.

To make matters worse, they say to fix the sunroof they need to keep the car for 2-3 days. Looks like the bike might be getting used a bit more!

Also (Now this may be common knowledge to some), but even if they do work on the car, such as rattle fixing, trim adjustments, replacing the head unit (Which was done only a few months ago for me) once its out of the warranty period, they just don't want to know about it. They don't guarantee their own work!

After the first year of warranty Subaru will not fix any rattles or squeaks in the bodywork. Bastards.

It probably helped that they've documented your complaints over a period of time. Before my first year was up I took my GT-B for a run to Mudgee and back and drove over the worst roads I could find to make sure I had no rattles.

I am back after maybe more than a year away from the forum.

It is good to know my car isn't the only one with these rattling problems. The sun roof, the sun visor, the glovebox and the cargo cover all take their turn to make themselves heard, the sun roof rattle is the most annoying. If anyone got it fixed, I will like to know.

Yep, sounds like your describing my car there mate!

If anything, I think Subaru made it worse by trying to fix the problems.

I have a wicked rattle coming from the passenger side A pillar dash area, passenger side visor squeeks when up (Sometimes) & run roof does rattle & squeek a bit. That's aside from other little bits & pieces in the back, but driving around Sydney roads & after 50k + its something I'm willing to accept.

Only thing that really shits me is that the sunroof opens under hard accelleration... Fair enough its only like an inch, but its still rather annoying.

Can anyone offer a fix to any of these problems?

Agrred anyone have further directions, PICS of where the KY needs to be applied on the sunroof blinds? And also what type of grease should be used?

Cheers

Yeah, Subaru have tried to fix it twice while I was still under warrenty. Each time it got better, but it never was fixed - I suspect they were just trying to patch the issue until my warrenty was gone so they could make more money.

I know others have experienced the same problem but unsure if they were able to over come the problem.
