It was actually apparent in the video, see what I mean about 60kph to 80kph? Notice the near instant drop in RPM in the GenV(and my GenIV tunes) before accelerating in the next gear?

Exactly. Otherwise I'd be hitting 100km/hr in Park.

Missed the bit where I said Speedo is calculated off the selected gear? Park wont move the Speedo.

Video delay with the GPS is sort of off unfortunately
I will email you something to test it better :)

As we know, my GenV LGT tune running stock boost makes 170Kw@wheels(please see Rrrush's result on a Mainline) with stock dump and mid/Y pipe

As for my reference to the video and how it changes and grabs next gear...

With all due respect Matt,

What I notice is that when you play my last video and your gen 5 video back to back, from when throttle is applied - is that my car hits 60km/hr when the gen 5 hits 20km/hr. I'm already off the gas by the time he gets to 100 (on his dash, remember he has discrepancy too) and my gps proves that my speedo was off by 5km. 8)

If you still want to argue about 60 and 80km/hr tachometer readings - I am more than happy to make you a proper 3rd gear pull video. Although I'm not sure how that's relevant, after I just let off the throttle in gear, my speedo stopped moving, my tachometer stood still, my engine noise disappeared, are you saying my gps magically jumped to 115km/hr?

I'm not disputing your times or power. I just wanted to know why my car revs faster. If you insist on the clutch slipping, even though my car magically hits speed, by gps, speedo, other cars on the road and bum dyno - let's keep going and I'll wait for your email or msg, until we're all satisfied.

So essentially, considering the GenV is stock and it goes from 20kph to 100kph in the time it takes for yours to go from 60 to 100 for the same 5 second sprint?

Yes, your speedo stopped moving as the auto catches up with the clutch packs no longer needing to transfer torque. The delay in the GPS sort of kills the results as the car can still be accelerating despite closed throttle as the gearbox 'catches up' and this is EXACTLY what the US guys refer to with their transmissions slipping and then matching as the torque disappears.

I have seen a car in Melbourne that the auto was so rooted that it went from 60kph to 150kph in 3rd gear in 3 seconds flat on the speedo yet sadly it wont do a 6 second 1/4 mile :(

That is not for speedo, that is actually for auto speeds to help with shift management. It is loggable in the tune but has no correlation to speedo but does help with the VCD

Firstly - play the last video back to back with yours. I used an ipad and my phone. Sync the videos where the throttle is applied. Gwn5 video is at start, while in my video is around the 10-11 second mark.

My car hits 60km/hr, gen5 - 20km/hr. Then my car stays around 20km/hr ahead. Remember I'm running full timing now, my car is faster than it was in the first two videos. Anyway please just watch the videos, I can see you didn't compare them simultaneously.

Lastly - are you saying that when I'm off throttle - it still manages to somehow accelerate 20km/hr. And it does this in 1 second. While engine braking? And you think someone might actually confuse engine braking with acceleration on their bum dyno?

Happy to take volunteers as witnesses for a ride. Waiting for your message matt.

You know, for a thread titled (manual) there sure is a lot of talk about autos in here.

Actually this thread is titled "Tuning my 07 sti (manual) 0-100?". IMO it's very relevant to post what different mods will do to your acceleration in a video. The autos are easier to compare to each other in a video, as it's just push and hold every time - down to the tuner to make it work well. Was that really all you gathered from this thread, Kieran? It also says Sti in the title, but I only see liberty and forester owners here.

Matt, still no word from you, but I'm thinking I'll log wheel speed/rpm through the TCU, and post up along with a log of vehicle speed/rpm. That should be more than enough to determine clutch slip?

I just want to make it clear, I'm not against tuning the auto. In my experience you can make it 100% better, responsiveness, smoothness etc. I think you do a fantastic job with it Matt. I just wanted to post up a video of what an untuned auto would do 0-100.

http://www.ozfoz.com/forum/viewtopic.ph ... 84f4e6ed09 - you must have mixed me up with someone else Matt, there is no shift knock here. You logged the TCU yourself for 2 hours.

I will happily do any test you put forward, to prove my clutch is slip free. At WOT anyway

Yet Dan from Road Track Rally told you it was slipping at WOT...

Legato on ozfoz had an etune on his S edition which was slipping so badly at RTR it managed just over 110Kw@wheels fully tuned(Darkrexy managed 157Kw with a massive boost leak from a leaking BOV flange, 13psi and running rich)...
Strange how my S Edition base tune for Legato given to RTR running less boost managed a more power to the wheels despite running less boost. On your dyno tune, how do you think I got 20Kw@wheels more power and 10% more low pm torque running less boost? ;) It got more torque to the wheels...

You had 3 hours on the DYNO and 2 hours on the street with it, and you made 10-12kwatw more (It went from 148 to 160) on 3psi less boost than an E TUNE that took me 3 pulls and was overly conservative (because as you remember my knock sensor was going nuts and was impossible to tune by email). If Dan's word is more factual than a GPS, then I'm afraid we might never actually find this slip.

But I'm ready to agree with you, once you can prove it.

He also has a vf52. If we're talking peak kw readings, I thought this might be relevant to mention.

I am still waiting, and once you can show me that it's off by 25km/hr (that's a REALLY big claim, and I think it should be very EASY to prove) - I will be the first to say "Yes, my car has slip, how did I not notice it! ".

Megalogviewer does some trick custom parameters, if that could help with data analysis.

Just to catch me up here 100%
What exactly are both of you truing to prove/ disprove?
a) The fact that the Tranny is slipping (or not) and not getting power to the ground..?
or
b)just that the speedo is not reading road speed properly

Simple.
if a)
1/8 mile runs back to back with proper timing gear. to measure trap speed NOT time.
3 Runs with untuned
3 runs tuned.
Average the results.

trap speeds don't lie when it comes to power to the ground and effective torque.

Too much emphasis being put on logging/ dyno's and all your nerdery
Rubber on the road and see how fast it goes
