replacing rear shelf sub help

Postby jlmanos » Wed Feb 26, 2014 5:11 pm

i have noticed lately that my rear shelf is rattling and sounds horrible, not sure if its the sub or just the shelf rattling though, because some songs its okay but then other songs with deeper faster bass it just rattles and sounds like poo.. is there a specific sub that i can put straight in to replace it with, something that won't sound horrible... and is dynamiting going to fix rattling?

Id say your sub is blown... push the cone in and out.. if it feels rough its blown.
you can get 8" replacement subs, but youd be better off putting another mcintosh sub in if you plan to use the stock amp.

so there isn't an alternative to use instead of macintosh sub? the stock sub is pretty expensive

There are quite a few alternatives, but they wont sound very good. After market subs need a lot more power than the mcintosh amp has to offer.
Mcintosh subs are cheap - I have one for sale for $50. I also have an after market sub for sale if youre interested, but even though it will fit in the factory hole, and will work, id recommend more power for it.

Sedans and wagons have the same sub... theres just a spacer plate that goes under the sedan sub. You would re-use the one from your existing sub. :D

peady can be trusted. You'd do well not to insult forum regulars by questioning their integrity (except for Buddah, but he didn't have any integrity to start with, he drives a Jeep :)).

Are you certain your sub is blown? Id hate for you to go through this and find out its just a rattle. If youre certain its blown youre more than welcome to try my sub out first before you commit to anything.
