Stock peak 13.2 boost just a lot earlier in the rev range in a stock car

what turbo? TD04???

TD04 Auto XT was faster and since it has more 'in gear' torque with the short shifted first gear running more boost then it bloody well should be quick.

Lol
Sure. Ok.

You could tune the auto to short shift your first gear to eradicate your FLKC you are getting as well

It will still change gears automatically in manual mode with the gears showing, and you can see the auto beat him to it on the last one, so he might as well have let it do it's job....or is the auto not shifting in the right place? :P Just kidding, but seriously why would anyone manually shift EXACTLY where the auto is meant to shift anyway, UNLESS he didn't trust the auto to shift correctly?

You mean drop off the RT and some throttle at the end of the gear and "release" the auto so it can shift? I know it will work, because I've done it...after reading your posts somewhere . But again why is this guy shifting manually out of 1st?? And I never had FLKC in 1st.... But I DID have trouble shifting out of first on your tune...as did Rome?

Matt I think you're a genius and if not for your experimenting and innovation, we wouldn't have some very cool things with our autos. I absolutely give thanks to you, and bow down to your research. I find it strange though that your customer (it is your cust. in the vid right?) will need to change manually, when you yourself said that a well tuned auto will do the job perfectly. If it's not your customer, please ignore my rant.

It was actually to showcase the gearshifts in manual mode, we all know how lame they are in stock form. The GenV guys know how fast they shift normally but we know how slow they will take to change.

1st gear tuning can actually improve the 0-100kph sprint if you measure acceleration(rate of change in road speed). Most acceleration in the shortest amount of time = faster, most people realise there is no point rev'ing out a gear when you could be using the low rpm torque in 2nd gear to really get the car moving. 1st to get it rolling essentially then wind out 2nd gear.

Correct me if I'm wrong - you posted the video to showcase the 0-100 times? I mean that's what it says....

So why is he using manual shift to showcase 0-100 times....

I would love to see a video of a properly tuned auto as you say - if it's so much better and faster and you know how to tune for it... shouldn't be too hard to make a video?

I can take a video of my stock auto tune this week. Play the videos back to back.... Are you thinking what I'm thinking? :P

Mostly but an incorrectly sized turbo of any kind is not good. I know of people removing the front O2 sensor to check pressure by screwing a bung in ;)

Boost creep is a good sign of wrong housing. EVC stabilises it but say you had a boost Tee and had creep on that then you know something is wrong

I want to check my back pressure but need to make a special adaptor to fit and deal with the heat issue

the trick is to get a hardline plumbed into an 18mm (iirc) fitting that replaces an eg exhaust sensor, the hardline runs to an expansion chamber, eg a co2 or nitrous bulb for a soda fountain or whipped cream dispenser. The pressure sensor is then tapped into the cooler expansion chamber.

I'll dig up the link where I found that info.

Here's some sensors ftw: http://www.auberins.com/index.php?main_ ... cPath=5_23

Two runs - first video I shifted out of first earlier manually, made no difference to 0-100 times but would help the time if pulling to a higher speed say 150ish. Second vid just letting the auto do it's work.

The auto hasn't been tuned for any shifting etc, using similar tables for dbw that my tuner, TP, uses for manuals.

Running very little timing, really conservative tune as we're sorting/diagnosing some weird hot weather issues.

I played videos back to back, they seem to accelerate exactly the same as yours matt, up to 100. It looks like he launched in your video? It doesn't look like it helped much time wise.... :?

No launch, same as yours where no movement until above 3000rpm. Stock GenIV's Autos are doing similar times ;)

shifts are pretty fast without any auto tuning

going by rough time stamps and some careful eyeing of the needle,
the car moves off at about 2.1 seconds and touches the 100km/h at around 7.2
SO 0-100km/h in 5sec flat.

I've been trying to make an overlay or split screen video of matt's tuned and my car... haha no luck so far, freeware can't handle it :D If someone tech video savvy could help...IMO it would make for a cool video :)

It looks to me like both cars do it in a very similar 5 secs time - once the car (speedo) starts moving - but if we're going from when the throttle is applied, my car revs a lot faster. And so overall time from applying the throttle to 100 is considerably faster. I'm guessing it's due to my extra torque?

Alex, I've just seen this thread now. It's my car in the vid that Matt posted. Don't overthink my video with respect to manual shifting faster/slower/sillier than auto shifting.... I'd had the car a few weeks and was just f@cking around. Wasn't really trying to prove/show anything in particular, just wanted to show a mate that my car felt quicker to 100km/h than his SS.

Interesting reading though, I've been enjoying it!
