That explains why you look like that.

Hi Edward,

The ID1000's are also fine with E85, it is the ID2000's that need extra care to keep performing like new.

Never a doubt in my mind ;)

It is also important to note that our Australian e85 is different to USA e85 and thus we don't have the same problems they do with clogging nozzles on id2000's

Awesome info lads, great to know I should have trouble free motoring once the switch to E85 is made.

Which by the way should be by the end of next week at the latest.

Just completing FPR 800 install 2nite, plugs have been changed to 7 heat range and 10lts of Penrite 10 10ths racing 5 5w/30 will be ordered on Friday.
Run tank down to 5lt and install ID 1000's so Matt can flash in 98 tune, drive to servo n fill up with E85, flash in conservative E85 tune with some road tuning,
then Dyno time and wahoo hopefully.

98 RON Tune Update
Matt did a revision last week, mainly updating CET tables and calibrating 2.5 bar map sensor to my PLX device.

Car has more torque from 3000 - 5500rpm but we discovered max boost was only around the 5.4psi mark. Explains why id noticed a drop in the top end pull.
We discovered the 2 idler pulley bearings were shot, one pretty badly. Im pretty sure this pulley distortion has worn away at the drive belt somewhat as well as
causing some amount of belt slippage. New bearings have been installed n a new belt will be 2moro. Fingers crossed this will get the boost back to around
the 7.5 - 8psi mark. There was no sign of any vacuum leaks but I will check this closely again 2moro when the Libs firing again. :)

Grant made some phone support calls and in person assitance for the DIY. On the right track now ;)

All of it has been DIY, other than mixing up the fuel vapour purge canister line, he was on the right track.

Yeah I must say a big thanx to u Matt for ur ongoing assistance and support whenever I stalk u with questions n the like.

Couldn't have got the Lib to where it is now without you and also all you guys out there on the forum who are very generous with your input.

The best thing about it is we are learning all the time, me probably more than most. Geez im getting a warm fuzzy feeling now, better shut up.

Also must thank Al Hunter's Japanese Auto Clinic for his continued advice, support and especially with hoist time. Ur a legend. :clapping:

Ok. Here is the final update from ID. Just as I thought, knowing Rallispec had to be right and also based on costing.

Hi Edward,

I'm glad you responded. I had misread what you wrote earlier. You are correct that the ID1000's will tolerate E85 but were not specifically made for it. Although since they are a ball and seat design they are far less likely to seize up and we don't usually have any issues with them.

Latest upgrade in prep for the sugar/corn juice. Install of Turbosmart FPR-800. Mostly DIY with some help from a fellow with a little bit of knowledge. :P

Its all working fine with vacuum-less pressure set at 45psi for 98 ron.

I don't like that bend in the vacuum hose grant

And can't see in the pics so forgive me if already done, but the reg should be hard mounted

The vacuum hose is the stocker which has about a 120* bend in it. I intend to replace this, just need a straight piece. Also intend to upgrade
the vacuum hosing on the intake charge side, there is a couple of bends there I wanna negate as well.

As u mention the pic doesn't show but yes it is hard mounted to the strut tower.

Also u may have noticed the gauge pic is showing a lowering fluid level. Yes it is leaking from underneath. :(

Turbosmart are sending a new one out 2day. They have just told me these gauges are not genuine, but sourced from u know where. :angry2:

In saying that they've told me they only have issues with about 3/100. . We will see.

I will now be on the lookout for a good quality gauge. :)

It is not a kinked bend, slow curve like factory setup. Photo just looks like a 90 degree bend
