CAI - is the noise bearable or unbearable?

The answer to this really depends on the person and what they think is bearable.

Personally I couldn't live with the cobb intake + box day to day but I know others are ok with it.

Dammit I can see this thing being too loud for me... ill do a test with it before the tune, if its too loud there will be a barely used CAI up for sale on here the very next day

Having said all this is there a way to keep stock air box and oem filter and make some induction noise?
A safe mod that is ...

after deleting the resonator and changing to a k&n panel filter gave me some more induction noise. i guess changing the inlet pipe would aswell?
Currently running a cobb pod+box... was fairly noisy but once i insulated the inside of the box and made up a few bits to completely seal it has dulled it down a bit.
i think the novelty has worn off and I'll go back to stock at some point.

Ok, i put my Process West CAI intake on yesterday to test out the noise levels before my tune.... lets just say its already back off the car
Heres a video of what it sounded like on. The first 2 accelrations are with the windows up, the rest with the drivers window down. The video doesnt do it justice either, its twice as loud in real life. It actually sounds ok-ish in the video. At no point did i go over 3000rpm in this video so you can imagine how annoying this would be all day every day!!

I need pics of the pod. I have a hyperflow , silicon intake, no TGV's...... the lot and I don't think mine is that loud.

I want loud SPOOL.... love it!!!

I cant wait till I go a Twist mount with a straight alloy 4" pipe into the turbo for tremendous spool.

Its a process west in guard cold air intake. It uses a K&N filter and has a heat shield. At the time of the video the heat shield wasn't on. Id say the heat shield would help the noise levels inside the cabin, but would still be just as loud on the outside.

P.S. ive asked the retailer if i can return the CAI, but am yet to hear back. If they wont take a return, ill be selling it on here. So for you guys that like the sound of it, youre more than welcome to buy it hahaha

That looks the same as mine. Mind must be as loud or if not louder. Maybe I'm just getting used to it

What are TGV's? Do I have them? I have a silicone intake too.

Ive thought about headers many times alexei... just dont want any more lag. Even now with almost no lag there are times I struggle with it in sydney traffic. I nearly got t-boned today pulling out of an intersection in 1st gear haha

See mine gets loud when it's spooling if I drive around slow/ normal the car doesn't want to spool so it's not bad

With bigger turbo you dont have to have any spool CAI noise if you dont want when just plodding about.
I like my PW CAI but I got rid of the K&N and put a fine dry poly filter there.
