Sounds to me like you're all over it and taking a very sensible approach. This will no doubt translate into good results.

Benny - haven't ever seen anyone decap the blue denso injectors but someone else may chime in here

Just did some searching for dw65c specs.

At 60 psi, current draw is 12.6 amps which should be fine on stock wiring but I would be upgrading the pissy wiring on the stock fuel pump plug to 16 gauge at least. (Stock is like 20 gauge). It's the two wires (blue and black) about 3-4cm long.

Use the plug supplied with the dw pump and run new 16 gauge wiring to the fuel pump cradle plug.

Also, at 60psi, and assuminf 13.5volts, pump is supplying 235 lph or 3900cc's. Reality is, your stock wiring and setup wont be seeing more than 12v maximum at the pump, which means you will most likely be flowing 210lph at 60psi, which is enough flow for the power you are chasing.

If you're wondering how I made this assumption, its a calculation.

To find out your fuel system requirements, you multiply your flywheel hp target by bsfc (brake specific fuel consumption). There is a range of bsfc to apply for different engine combos. N/a will be 0.5 usually, and turbocharged up to 0.9 but for a relatively mild setup about 0.6 to 0.75. This is for normal petrol. Ethanol is 30% lighter per lb compared to gasoline and thus requires 33% more flow for the same hp/ litre. However that's for 100% ethanol, and we are only running e85 or 85% ethanol so we need to add 25% more flow.

To be safe, always overestimate and leave headroom. So lets go with 25% less fuel efficiency so we up the bsfc from 0.6 to 0.75 (25% less fuel efficient so 0.15 higher bsfc per 1hp, meaning you need 25% more fuel to make the same hp as you would on gasoline). But because I want to err on the side of caution, I will up the bsfc figure to 0.8 assuming an innefficient engine.

Say you're chasing 250awkw. This is circa 300-320 flywheel kw or 400-430hp at the fly.

To calculate fuel flow multiply 400-430hp x 0.8 bsfc
= 320 to 344 lbs of fuel per hour
Or converted to lph = 200 to 216lph of fuel flow
Or 3300 to 3600cc/min of fuel at peak power / flow requirement

Across 6 injectors this equates to 550cc to 600cc injectors required at 100% duty cycle (200 to 216lph divide by 60 [hour to minute] times 1000 [litres to ml which is cc's])

To be safe I would stick to 80% duty cycle, so 550cc/0.8 = 687cc or 600cc/.0.8 = 750cc injectors required.

Hope this helps

Mick u r a legend

That is awesome info on ur part and another great learning experience for me.

Thanx for taking the time to post such detailed workings and spreading ur vast knowledge :clapping: . I assure you it is of great help.

Id1000's you suggest, I'll have to look into those.

Any suggestions on the best place to buy ?. What sort of coin should I be looking at for 6 of ?

Many Thanx

Dw650s have been frying in a few cars on e85. Also, night be a bit light on for flow feeding 6 750s.
No need to go e85 specific oil, just change the oil every 1500-2000 km.

Thanx for ur input and for posting the link above. I been messing around with it, its so bloody cool. :)

Looks as though its all pointing to at least 750s for 230ish awkw.

This is awesome info thanks.
What's the tuners preferred injector inbetween stock and ID1000?
Any particular brand name around 750-850?

Good info above from the greats :)

With my experience on E85???

Throughout my fuel pump journey ( Ive changed fuel pumps about 6 times now   )
- walbro(was too loud)
- sard(it died soon after)
- AVO(upgraded and sold)
- aeromotive(not e85 compatible - so to speak, read there conditions)
- then onto dw...65c and 300 - haven't had any issues or dramas...on e85

In all that time..I have retained the stock plugs, stock wiring and haven't experienced any sort of wiring dramas or fuses blowing....the only mod I have done is increase the fuel pump duty cycle....which Matt has mentioned when tuning with him....

As a side note to this I always try to replace the fuel bucket which holds the filter, I have done this about 3 times during all those pumps installs....call me paranoid?

Additional to this? well I have parallel fuel lines, fuel reg, and the ID1000's...

Why not stay on 98? Should be able to get your 230kw at wheels on it. It allows you to swerve the fuel pump fettling too. It also means it is eaiser to get fuel too.
Kinda flush. Fitment is something. ADM as F*ck.

When you get a chance post up a current under bonnet pic, I like to see how the beast looks.

4500km already, getting some driving happening there

Coffs to Tweed on under 3/4 of a tank
Coffs to Tamworth with 3/4 tank(Coffs to armidale return on just under a tank)
Coffs to Newcastle on 5/6ths of a tank(could of filled at Kempsey but no need)

All 3 have E85, no problems getting it. Grant lives closer to the E85 servo than me lol

Been looking after her during the hot, high humidity days. Bring on E85 for chemical intercooling.

Don't think id quiet get away with " honest officer its stock ", But still pretty stealth. A few bods still look under the bonnet n don't notice the forced induction. :D

Love the first shot of the engine bay, looks tidy as!

I think you need the JDM battery and ABS covers now

Yeah thanx Al, I wouldn't mind the battery cover, but not sure how well the Abs cover would intergrate with the S/C and charge pipe. It would more than
likely be floating in mid air now the factory air box is gone.

Justin, thanx heaps for sharing ur journey so far. Im a little bit more at ease now considering u have had no dramas with with the stock wiring, fuses etc.

What was the reason u went from dw 65c to dw 300 ?.

I stumbled across the go-pro vid of ur & Gino's cars in ur thread last nite. Ur's is an absolute weapon and G's is not too far behind.
Luvin the sound they both make. :)
