Reliable workshops for MY10 GT LIBERTY AUTO

Postby adamzammit » Sat Feb 01, 2014 6:06 pm

I am a 2004 wrx sti owner which has around 200atw. I have recently purchased a 2010 GT liberty auto for my wife, which despite being limited to stock power is a really nice car. My wife would like some more sound out the car (with no complaints from me whatsoever). Now I have seen some on here recommend garage 88 but I am a little sceptical as to there tuning knowledge after hearing about someone getting a TBE for their ralliart lancer through these guys but getting told that a tune "wouldn't" be required. I thought that he perhaps misunderstood what they said so I emailed a few known wrx/sti specialists to ask about exhaust and tune options for the liberty including garage 88 to compare responses. Garage 88 said that they have done quite a few intake and TBE upgrades on MY10 liberty GT's and that because they are just minor bolt on mods you don't to worry about the tuning. I was shocked to say the least and it makes me a bit concerned about trusting them to do work on my car. Does anyone else have an insight as to why they may make such a poor recommendation and also if there were other reliable workshops in western Sydney that you would recommend.

Regards,

Adam

Hi Adam

As far as a recall, G88 dont do tuning themselves (they specialise more in mechanicals, from simple bolts up to OMFG custom jobs - lots of members here have had work done by them at both ends of the spectrum)

They recommend Insights for tuning (if I remember correctly)

I myself have had a TBE setup installed by G88, along with many other goodies, and I am very happy with their work - I would be an advocate for the G88 team, especially Nghi and Mick

I didnt ask them about tuning, as I got mine done through Kido Tuning/Matt.... again, very happy with his work, and I've recommended to several folk to get in touch with Matt for their tuning needs.

Seeing as they don't do tuning perhaps this explains why they aren't sure what requires a tune and what doesn't. I am waiting on replies for costs etc so far I have found Rigoli's to be the most affordable and have only ever heard good things about them. Kido tuning is highly recommended on here but how often is he in Sydney.
