New guy from Wollongong NSW

Postby Old55-3.0R » Wed Jan 22, 2014 2:10 pm

Hi all
My name is Tim and I live in Wollongong NSW and as my user name suggests I'm 55yo

Current ride is a Liberty MY05 3.0R AT sedan

No mods except for the audio where I ripped out the McIntosh and replaced everything.

Planned mods- front and rear sway bars (I hate body roll)
ECU flash

I've been reading some of the forum threads and there is lots of good information them

Thanks in advance for any help and advice.

Tim

Welcome old(Tim)er! :P

I'm not too far from the Gong.

Upgrading the sway bars will certainly improve handling... I would recommend coilovers as well though, makes a huge difference!

Heaps of info here on suspension options and also ECU tuning.

So got some pics of your ride?

Hi Guys
Thanks for the welcome as this is all very new to me being a forum newbie.

Ordered a tactrix openport 2, should arrive next week. Will commence data logging and then back and forward with the tuner (Xtreme Racing Tuning).
Much fun to be had.

No pics yet. I'll get it done soon.
Coilovers are the go in the long run. Interested in ride quality feedback from others, a few different brands out there.

I was kinda surprised by how crappy all the McIntosh components were.

System fitted by FHRX Studios in Sydney.
Head Unit: Clarion NX 702A Sat Nav DVD ......
DSP: Bit10
Front Speakers: Morel elate 603
Amps: Hertz HDP4
Hertz HDP1
Sub: Still working (saving up) on that. MB Quart 12" at the moment.

Everything fitted well but the facia is a flat finish which I don't mind

Now I can see why you thought the mcintosh was especially rubbish. Youre used to some very high end stuff!! Are you not running rear speakers? I know a lot of people dont run rear speakers in small cars, but I think theyre a must in the liberty's :D

Love to hear that system 1 day if you ever make it to a meet!

Thanks for that. I'm still running the McIntosh rear speakers from the head unit but looking to replaced them with some 6.5" Hertz coaxials I have mounting them on ring baffles.

About the McIntosh speakers, the really surprising thing is they sound as good as they do.
