Will let you know mick.

Have taken the turbo to get checked by a turbo builder as I was a little bit sus on the look of the comp wheel as it had rounded fins instead of the right angled they normally are.

Straight off the bat without me even saying anything he said "THATS FUCK#ED" SOoooo he said he will see if he can swap the cartridge over for a newer one.

So info so far on the VF42 is It runs a 6+6 compressor and a exhaust wheel is a 9 blade so not at all the same as a VF22.
Just looking at it he has said that the bearing pack looks the same as standard BB type so we will just have to wait and see once it is split.

Another option is for him to put a new billet comp wheel on but then he may have to machine the housing to suit so thats big dollars for a second hand turbo. The bearings look good though so I might be able to get a comp wheel to suit if I measure it all up.

Just have to wait and see.

Pretty annoyed about it as I was told it was good condition.

Me too...
On Matts recommendation.
Just got the good news about my AVO400L ;)
Kyp had a comp wheel to suit in stock so if it makes it through VSR I'm sorted!

Mark at GTPumps is another recommendation but is in NSW...

Yea sweet ive had a GTpumps turbo rebuilt with Kyp before as GTpumps never got back to me EVER to do a rebuild on their own product.

Good to hear mate.

If he hasnt got a wheel for me im going to take it to MTQ in Laverton as they are an authorised IHI parts supplier so they might be able to match something up as their computers have ZERO info on the VF42 he had to look on google to find info on it haha.
But they seem to think they should be able to match something up.

Here is to hoping.

Yea Kyp is a really hard to talk to on the phone but in person is a blast

Kyp makes no lofty promises but is great in person.
Vin was tuning a Raptor Impreza when I dropped off the repair job.

Have you told him that you're tuned by Cihan? He didn't want to believe me last time that Cihan can tune Subarus

By the way - your Forrester looks very nice, and that torque curve....!

Hahaha yea I told him and he didn't want to believe it. I told him its the best tune I've run and he is not one of these tuners that can 'only' do Subaru haha.

Thanks mate. Yea its a lot of fun. I Should take you for a spin!

Very interested in the whole flex fuel sensor and aftermarket ECU thing.

Sounds good :)

Yeah to quote Kyp: "Cihan?! Sure he can tune Toyotas, but Subarus..."
"You expect me to believe that there's actually a shop out there called 'Throttlehappy'? And people actually let them tune? What a load of sh#t!"

No dramas
Nah nothing like that. Looked into it. Its a lot of money for the setups and then comes the tuning and all the safety factors and its just not a viable option when I can just run ethanol. I found in the 40 deg days we were having, ethanol was running brilliantly!!!!

So finally got my turbo back from ATP and what a great job he did.
11 blade billet wheel is now installed on the VF42 pretty excited to get this on.
Also picked up some rear brembos for the car at a steal as well.
