Cat back exhaust for my05 GT

Postby Jap_spec » Thu Jan 23, 2014 10:48 pm

Hi everyone,

I just bought my first liberty and I would like to have my exhaust changed.
It's a 2004 GT Auto
Brand new exhaust seems little bit out of my reach, so I'm looking for a second hand cat back exhaust in QLD.
I'm located Near Brisbane so closer is better.

Thanks
Ken

Shakib.... A cat back is a cat back :?

You will find that the Liberty community is quite small compared to a lot of other cars including Impreza and Forester..

Second hand parts don't pop up that often and when they do they don't last long especially common ones like exhausts etc

Do you have any specifics on what you're after, apart from 'cat back exhaust'

What mufflers, etc?

Here's a new CBE for $495 not a bad price imo.. http://www.bestmufflers.com/bshop/produ ... ts_id=4632

catback would include the y pipe, he might just want more tone not a full system, seeing that he wants second hand he might want to get mufflers then a y pipe when he decides he has enough cash leftover

The Y pipe is part of the mid-pipe. Except for some aftermarket brands like Invidia, Megan Racing and so on.

If I were you OP I would get a dump first and see how you like it - Best bang for buck exhaust wise.

Get some mufflers for aesthetic purposes (stock ones won't restrict you until at least 180kw+)

Then if you're not happy get a mid-pipe that suits your specific needs - noise etc.

+1 If you are after performance, buy a dump first. If you want sound, change your mufflers or go a cat back

Thanks for reply guys,
Iv got offered a full turbo back exhaust for $600 but he also said he will charge me $300 for fitting.
That's fine, but than I need to get a tune right?so it's gonna end up costing me more than $3000. (Incl exhaust and tune etc
I just don't have that much money and that's the reason I was keen on a cat back.
I'm not fussy so as long as it's a stainless steel cat back(not a mild steel) I will be happy :D

But I guess if it's hard to find a second hand cat back I might leave it for now, until something pops up in Brisbane area.

Thanks!

$600 for a SS TBE? What brand? I'll buy it if you don't.

Easy to fit yourself but even with $300 labour it's a pretty good deal.

Are you sure it's to suit the twinscroll liberty?

$2000 for a tune? Is it ecutek? That is outrageous.

Yeh the tbe was fitted on my liberty but it was taken off when I bought it.
So he said $600 and it's yours. I would love to have it, but than I have buy the piggy back to tune.
But if I gonna get it tuned might as well get a intercooler, new turbo intake kit etc.. So it's gonna cost me lot.

You don't need a piggyback.. On road or e-tune for your stock ecu should cost less then ~$400
