Wheelspin is not an issue yet comes on smooth as silk... 140kw@3000rpm on 16.2psi boost. He left here at around 5pm... I would almost expect him home by now.

I got yet ANOTHER new thing developed and it literally was spinning in Sport mode before he had even tried out Sport#

Are the tips bit close for bar melt ? :?:

Cheers Newbie!
I went for a hard drive after installation and both outer pipes had just touched the inner part of that exhaust recess which just melted away that paint that it touched. Not visible though... I cut the inner part while test fitting so that didn't touch.
Other than that, I did a trip from Bundy to Brissy yesterday and back and the bar hasn't shown any signs of melting.

Watch out if you push it hard.
Mine was too close to the plastic at last track day and melted a hole right through my bumper.

Nathan,

Looking at getting the Conti's. How are they holding out, would you buy them again?

Thanks Peter! Hope to see some future progress with yours. :)

Matt

Hey Matt,
They're going very well. ContiMaxContact, the ones I have, are the lower performance tyre in Conti's performance range, but they're a brilliant all round tyre and would still trust them to do do some track work. Even though they're not the best in Conti's performance range, they're still far superior in all weather conditions to any other tyre which I've used. I think the highest performance tyre in their range is the Sport Contact 5's, but I'd assume it might be less of a performer in conditions other than dry..
Just coming towards 19,000 kms on them and they haven't hit the tyre wear indicator yet, and that's with a significant amount of spirited driving (can thank KiDo-tuning Matt for that for unleashing too much fun with his tune :P )
Wouldn't hesitate to buy them again!

Installed a new Kartboy Short Shifter to suit STI MY04-13. NOT Liberty.
This Kartboy Short Shifter replaces the stock shift lever in 2004+ Subaru STI. Overall shift throw is decreased by 40%, providing a noticeable difference and a solid feel. The Shift knob height will also drop 25mm as well. Constructed of CNC'd and TIG welded 4130 Cr-Mo steel. It will install with simple mechanic's tools in under 30 minutes.

^^ That said, with a bit of extra mucking around, it can be installed. And once installed, you'll love it! I sure love it - it's like a completely different driving experience :D

For future reference for those who might install a WRX STI 6 speed shifter into their Liberty, these are the problems you'll encounter.

Holes don't line up. Luckily this bottom piece of plastic isn't too important since it just holds the leather boot up and covers the reverse lock out spring. You have a few options: glue it, screw it, or zip tie it.
Image

The other problem as discussed in another thread was the reverse cable outer needing an extension sleeve. I used a 30 mm sleeve which works well. Could do with a slight adjustment down at the base of the cable, but it's still fully functional!

And here's a few happy snaps from SubiNats show and shine :)

It seems ok, gears go in easily. I don't know if it's all in my head but it seems like the actual gearstick is positioned the slightest bit closer to the driver (not that that's a bad thing)

Anyway, more goodies came in the mail today.

So keen to get this installed and get into the 200+ club; however, I'll be heading to Vietnam/Cambodia next weekend, and then there's the hassle of having it tuned (or the risk of driving it untuned) so it won't be installed any time soon. So for now, I've given it a clean and it's an aesthetically pleasing paperweight.

Let me know how you go with buying bits for the turbo install - like studs bolts gaskets etc : I'm doing same soon :)
I may go OEM nuts n bolts and PSR gasket kit and wrap :) (n00b)

The kartboy shifter is for LHD which might explain the positioning in the gate: as long as it's not interfering with the handbrake :)

Forgot to mention the turbo also came with a turbo beanie which looks like it fits pretty snug. I think I'll try to run both the turbo beanie under my Cobb turbo heat shield.

Also, I might have just sunk a lot more money into this... (....really hoping I get a decent tax return this year  )
Ordered:
ID1000 (plus adaptors)
Cobb 3 port Boost Control Solenoid
AVO silicone throttle body hose

Package deal put together by Rhys from Wolf Racing Products. Top bloke with excellent customer service.

All to be installed early July when I get back from overseas. And then a retune from Matt will see this granny wagon in Club 200+
