MY08 Spec.B VDC issue

My car has developed a small issue somewhere in the VDC system
When I start the car, the VDC warning light won't turn off.
I have tried pushing the button above my left knee and it still won't turn off.

I have tested the ABS and this appears to be working as expected - no great long skid.
The cruise control still works as does the SI drive. No other flashing warning lights except a solid VDC light.

Is any one able to help with this?

Is there any way to get the fault code out of the computer without any cable?
If I need a cable, does anyone have a cable in the blue mountains/western sydney area?
Or does it have to go to Subaru and plug into the dealer computer for diagnosis?

Usually need the dealer computer to look into things like that as they can read every computer in the car.

Yep, needs to go to the dealer. The VDC light means that only the stability control has a fault. TCS may or may not be available. ABS/EBD will be fine.
The VDC ECU needs to be queried via a dealer diagnostics tool, and I don't think any of the free OBD/bluetooth scanners can do this.

Either way, I'd be heading there urgently.

I'd be pulling the battery first, let the computers reset and see if it comes back.

thanks guys. Did the battery pull yesterday afternoon with no change in results.

Had a local shop with a SnapOn scan tool check. He found an odd code that he couldn't make sense of. 2152H/8530
He emailed SnapOn and Repco for help, both had no idea.
I consulted Google and came up with a steering angle sensor fault. Why it didn't throw the C0071 code we're not too sure yet....

More digging to be done tomorrow.

Easy fix, the steering angle sensor is stuffed. Common problem with them as well. Get the sensor out of a wreck

Turns out it was related to some other work I had done elsewhere. Even though it had been fine for about a month, the Steering angle sensor must have moved somehow and needed recalibration. No more light on the dash now.
