Hi seanmau5,
I think the same part is broken on mine too. Did you mean the hook on a string, under the boot floor, that holds it up when accessing eg the spare tyre?

Did you have any luck getting a replacement?

Where'd you find this?!?!?! Hahaha

I'll assume you're talking about the wagon version because the sedan has a plastic handle that unclips and hangs off the weatherstrip around the boot opening. And no, no luck unfortunately. Can't even get it from the US.

technically couldn't you just call up any wrecking gen4 sedan and ask them for this and it'd generally fit instantly?

This diagram seems to indicate it's a separate part [13], however the part number isn't listed/known. If you find the part number on it somewhere you should be able to buy one new.

Yes I've tried then just gave up as I couldn't source one.

Thanks Not Daniel... I looked on SubaruGenuineParts originally and it wasn't listed as a separate item.. Is this image from subarupartsdepot?? EDIT - no it's opposed forces, just saw the watermark.

Yes, I have a wagon, but the part that's broken on mine is not Part 13. My hook underneath that should be on the end of the string is broken (see pic).

Is that the one you meant dja?

Plastic hook off a cargo net worked for a while, but for those who want a genuine replacement, this is the Part#:

Awesome thanks for that ;)

So does it flex lots in normal use?

No problem :) .

Well, it's hard plastic so it doesn't really flex at all. To be honest, it does the exact same job as any plastic hook eg off a cargo net (which is actually thicker plastic than the Subaru one). But the good thing about the genuine one, is that the hook tucks into the little square pocket on the left of the bottom plate. Basically opposite of where the string ties to. So when it's tucked into there, it doesn't dangle down into the spare-wheel-well area and possibly rattle around.
