I have the Subaru auxiliary cable which I ran in a couple of years ago, and it connects to the HU via x2 square din plugs.
Forgive me if I've missed this in the thread somewhere but has any one modified this cable to allow connection of their tablets?
The opposite end in the centre console, attaches to the aux female input via a din plug as well.

MY02B4 wrote:. Unless you have a very small phone then it won't fit in the cubby so it will stick out a bit. Secondly, I bought a kidigi and the mount is too tall to fit in the cubby. I then went to buy a bendable mount but even that was too tall to fit. When you consider the size of the cubby, its almost impossible to have a mount inside that allows you to close the lid without having to remove the mount. Option 1 is worth trying because you can easily stick a few magnets under the cubby lid and buy a cheapo case for the phone/tablet. Still not as clean but its cheap and easy.
My 3.5mm aux input is located in the centre console - right next to the 12V power plug (it has another 12v supply beneath the radio too).
Stock from factory - although may have been an optional extra. I've never pulled the HU apart so not sure what DIN, etc plugs exist.

so are you suggesting I just use the aux input in the centre console and maybe just shorten the wires?
