Injector Replacement/Upgrade

Postby mynameisdaniel » Mon Oct 28, 2013 4:23 pm

It appears there's absolutely no information on this forum regarding the work involved in replacing the injectors. I'm going ID1000s which should be plug and play wiring and fitting wise.

Just wondering if this is something I can do myself or if I should get a mechanic to do it?

Any guides or cars where the process is similar enough to apply to the Liberty would be great, or tips from anyone who's done it before :)

I did some more searching and found this beautiful guide on NASIOC.

Can anyone comment on applying this to the Liberty?

At the risk of stating the obvious, if you are increasing injector size you will also need a re-tune. You will be running much richer mixtures with the higher volume injectors which will probably be outside the parameters the ECU can control to stay within AFR limits.. The bigger the volume increase the more you will go away from what your existing tune is aiming for... Just a thought that's all...

I'm comfortable doing it if it's as straight forward as that guide shows. If I need to start removing oil lines, or coolant lines to do it on the liberty I'd probably draw the line there for doing it myself...

Thanks for the thought, this is in anticipation of an E85 tune :)
