Big end 25T main symptoms?

Concerned :/

I seem to get a very dull knocking type noise but looking under hood at time of knocking quiet as a mouse...

Slight rev takes it away ...

Input would be appreciated

Subaru engines aren't the quietest motors out there. But when they 'Knock' you will hear them.

Easiest thing is to grab a quick vid of the noise and post it up.

has the car got oil in it?
what weight oil do you use ?
could be bottom end bearing, piston noise from what youre describing! drive to a mechanic and they will be able to tell in 5 seconds if its death rattle

There is no noise when I go under the hood quiet as a mouse.

When I hear noise sitting in pass seat on idle I get out and look and listen at engine.

No noise at all !

could be noise resinating through the fire wall, take it to a mechanic, sometimes people hear injectors clicking and purge solenoids click and think there cars dying lol

Find the longest screwdriver you can and put that on bits of the engine and the handle against your ear if you want to hear knock.

if its true engine knock it might not be able to be heard unless someone revs it and even then will you know what it is?

Watched a forestor you tube movie with knock and it was loud as !!

probably cause it was well beyond stuffed, early stages the noise will be barely evident

What I mean is the noise is not consistent sort of comes and goes away. Can only be noticed on pass side when listening for it. When noise is evident I look and listen under hood but no noise

If its bottom end noise it will be consistent at certain rpm when its just starting to deveop, from here its gets to the point where its so loud I get scared to open the bonnet and the piston hits the top of the head cause so much clearance.

sometimes its not as evident when warm, you might hear it more before your car gets oil pressure

what oil do you use?
