Cams And Valve Springs

Postby Boostaddict » Fri Oct 18, 2013 1:05 pm

Hey Guys

Ive got myself some Kelford Cams for my Build.

Question is, do I need the Valve Springs aswell?? Didn't need the cams before but they came up at a price that could not be refused.

So is it an issue if I don't use the matching valve springs??

Remember boost ( eventually ) will probably be under 24psi as im only going 98. And I will keep my rev limit under 7,500 rpm ( 7,499 to be exact :D  )

You're too slow

I found the specs already

10.7 lift on intakes, 10.2 on exhaust

You need springs

Can I use another brand of valves?? IE these??

https://shop.rocketindustries.com.au/pr ... mEHH924bX4

I did hear that kelfords cams have a high lift and you need their particular valve springs because of this???

True??

All well and good to have a nice shiny brand.

But to make the right decision, you need to know valve seating pressure and also at 0.50" lift

Otherwise you're pissing in the wind

Emailed the seller for the Tomei ones and asked for the exact specs already.

Yep, they are the ones designed for the cams that I have. So I will probably just go with them. Just thought there might be other types available that will do just as good a job (like the Tomei ones) that are more reasonable in price . The Kelford ones are $400

I got a bit lazy with my springs. When I took my heads to JHH, I just told them I needed springs too, and let them spec the correct ones. This doesn't help you at all, but it is a case of doing it once, doing it right. I think the springs were like 900 bucks or something. I stopped looking at receipts for mods years ago. It is all expensive. Also Boostadict, I can see your build is heading down the slippery slope man.
Kinda flush. Fitment is something. ADM as F*ck.
