Good news! The ECU was "un-bricked" successfully yesterday by Rich at Entra Racing in Canberra and will be express posted back today. Hopefully have it back on Friday for a Saturday morning install. Fresh new battery as well, and some checking of the earth points, although my car does not use CANBUS as widely as the facelift series, still worth at least a visual and static check. Pretty hard to do a dynamic one unless the ECU is installed and engine running. Out with the wiring diagrams from the Workshop Manual to chase those little suckers!!!

On it's way back to you mate - if all is well with Auspost you should have it tomorrow.

I think your build will be a bit more exciting than mine, with a modest 326 kw atw! I might be about half of that if I am lucky!

Good news this morning. Put in the new battery and the restored ECU and she is working beautifully!.

Now to put all the cover plate, carpet and door trim back in place!

Any updates on your tuning results post the last set of mods and Matt's trip?

Matt has provided two new images, a v6 and a v7. Unfortunately, last Friday night his PC broke, so the road tune did not happen. Also, the dyno at RTR did not open due to Grand Final weekend. So the road/dyno tuning session has been postponed till he can get re-organised.

With the new v7 tune, I will start the logging sessions and monitoring over the next couple of weeks with the first logging session this arvo.

I just invested in a Jaycar maintainence charger, and an eeePC with 12v charger for the specific purpose of reflashing
A new battery might be a good idea too in the not too distant future

Something needs to be done for sure.

Can a 12v battery charger be used whilst reflashing, for safety?

I often have my car on the trickle charger when flashing and I also make sure that either the laptop is plugged into power (cig lighter or via power point) or fully charged.

Tried to do some logging today after the ECU was re-installed. Could not connect with RR Logger to the ECU, so I now suspect my Tactrix Cable may have been the issue that contributed to the bricking.

So, next issue!

Driving a 80 kph on cruise between the tunnel and the Westgate Bridge, when all of a sudden, lost power, looked down at the instruments and there was a malfunction light and flashing cruise light. When I got home later that day, the diagnostics revealed a P0031 code. Damn, Front left O2 sensor! Anyway after some confusion, got a replacement Front A/F sensor for fitting this weekend.

Forgot how much I love cruise control until I had been without it for a week!

Well, the cost of those replacement sensors from Subaru are just stupid, $565.00. In any case, just bought one as I had no time to chase the alternative via Bosch Auto Shop. They don't have any in stock as listed for the Subaru 3.0R on their web site, but they do in the USA website. US Part number is 15013 for the Front A/F (or O2) Sensor.

In any case, learned where bank 1 on my engine is (again) as we put the new sensor in the passenger side, and still had the fault. Swapped sides and all good!

So, Bank 1 on the Subaru Liberty 3.0R H6 is on the driver's side or right hand side looking from the driver's seat. I hope I don't learn this lesson again...

Also got a new image from Matt yesterday, and loaded it up this morning, went for brekkie up at Emerald (Manta Cafe - Good small cruise worthy place!). The new image has reduced some of the torque hole, but still a little more to go. At least it is heading in the right direction.

If we cannot get rid of the torque hole in the 2000-3500 rev range, then will consider downsizing the centre muffler to put a little more restriction in. Just a consideration at this stage and we will see how the dyno tune with Matt goes, tentatively 06 Dec.

Order a set from subarugenuineparts.com to have handy for the future. 22641 AA25A is an upgrade sensor. Presently around $410AU/pair delivered.

And GL with ur upcoming tune. Luvin the boosted H6.
